Discuss Amazon: Longest River in the World

If anyone got a chance to view it at the Pordenone Silent Film Festival or La Giornate del Cinema Muto, I would appreciate learning more

How much footage survives?

I have not been able to figure out a run time; only that “This rediscovered print appears to be complete and accords with what’s known from the documentary record, both visual and written, with rare exceptions. The most identifiable gap is the absence of scenes showing the production of cocoa in Santarém, referred to in documentation (and in the Czech intertitles), but which strangely are absent in corresponding shots, even though the municipality is represented with its port and decorated indigenous gourds.” according to information from the silent film festival

Have you seen anyone report about runtime yet?

No. This is first time I've heard of this documentary.

As it was screened at the film festival today, a lot more info and specifics should become available about it online during the coming hours.

Well someone just updated the runtime to 54 minutes. Not sure where that is from but I am hopeful good progress is being made!

I assume no one knows anything about where this can be seen in the future after this festival? Is it going to be kept in some private collection? Will it be moved to the Internet Archive or given to something like BFI?

So far, I have not been able to find anything about plans for the future outside a small quote about “showing it in Brazil” in the future
