...action-based war films out there! Anyone have any other recs? I've seen most of them, probably, but always looking for more action-based war films (as opposed to the pyshological ones that have very little to do with actual war).

I own many of those, including Platoon, BHD, and SPR. I actually know one of the Rangers who served in Somalia in 93, and was cast in the film. Enemy at the Gates was my first DVD (I'm old enough to have owned VHS and, in fact, had Platoon and SPR on VHS before converting them). Das Boot is amazing too, but I'm not as big a fan of Casualties of War or Big Red One. Dunkirk was good.
I also really like 13 Hours, Hamburger Hill, American Sniper, BoB and Pacific, and Generation Kill.

There's John Woo's Bullet in the Head and a Korean film called Brotherhood (Taegukgi). Both are definitely very action based.

Tae Guk Gi is a really good one. It has a few issues, but I'm a fan.

Hamburger Hill in movies, Generation Kill in series. I watched Lone Survivor because of Joe Rogan's recent guest, and I don't even blame him for not watching this turd.
