LOL! It can be interesting to see some actors and actresses whose careers extend past the Blaxploitation era doing those Blax films and watching how the roles vary from what one might expect from them.

I saw Yaphet Kotto do this really cool role in one Blax movie once; it was so different from his part in Alien that it mystified me.

I always connected Yaphet Kotto with Live and Let Die, which uncomfortably flirted with blaxploitation, so his role wasn't that much of a shock. And Isaac Hayes was, of course, Shaft to me. Truck Turner wasn't a whole lot different.

But damn! Uhura telling Yaphet Kotto that she stopped selling her p**** when she was fifteen and figured she she could make more money selling other b***** instead.

It was a long way from telling Captain Kirk that she was "frightened."

Truck Turner—yikes, hahaaa.

Yaphet has so much subtle depth in Alien. If you like Miles Davis, do check out what I think is his “homage” titled “Yaphet” on the ‘double album’ Big Fun.
