I've yet to see a film that so blatantly rips off the aesthetic employed in Amelie as this. The music, the color pallet, the style of cinematography, and even much of the narrative itself. Both films feature a disconnected loner as cute, quirky, single woman yearning for the elusive man-mate while going to great lengths to connect. Both leads even have an older man friend as a neighbor (both artists).
There are even more similarities and if I didn't already know, I would have sworn this was made by the same director as Amelie.

Yeah, that's pretty much the feeling that passed over me in the first 10 mins, that I was watching an Amelie homage. Of all the elements that this film is criticised for I think the one that is overlooked is that despite the unusual subject matter, this film was achingly formulaic and unoriginal in various elements.
Barring Chronos, I'm not a fan of the director generally though, so perhaps that heightens my apathy.

I have to assume fans of this film have never seen Amelie, which is truly weird.
