Discuss Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Not as bad as the 1/10 movies Marvel has been churning out the last two years, but rather bland and forgettable all around. These movies really need a good and memorable villain and I can't for the life of me understand why they brought back this boring black manta dude from the first movie. I don't know what Aquaman's rogue's gallery is like, but I imagine there would've been at least some other options to choose from. Hell, borrow someone from Batman or Superman if the pickings are really so slim. Not that the rest of the movie is any better. In the start they wallow on Aquaman's boring son-father relationship and his father-son relationship that nobody cares about. Then we have the Amber Heard situation. Now I imagine they should have either kept her scenes intact or tossed her out of the film completely but they decided to go with some kind of a half as$ed solution where she is rather clumsily in the film but doesn't really say much. Anyways a lot stupid and cliched scenes like in the beginning where the bad guys are breaking into some vault and the (unfunny) tech nerd tells them they have exactly 15 minutes for the job. Of course no reason is given for this magical deadline, but I guess it sounded cool in other movies so no reason to use it. Then we have Nicole Kidman's mer-woman (or whaever) riding some kind of a underwater moped only to shortly abandon it and we can see her swim much faster than the moped was moving which naturally begs the question of why was she riding it in the first place, but I guess they thought it looked cool or something. I did get a chuckle out of that scene where they use whales to blow up a ship when they are searching for a kidnapped child on that very ship. I suppose they used their telepathic fish skills to know that the kid wasn't actually there.

I'm easy to please when it comes to popcorn blockbusters. I don't expect Rashomon or judge these sorts of films in the way one might a serious drama. But even with the bar lowered this is a real turkey. If there is a worse entry in the modern DC or Marvel franchises, then I don't remember it. Awful in every aspect. Franchise killing stuff.

You know I was going to argue that it's not as bad as that new Shazam movie or Bland Adam movie at least, but come to think of it, it's not really any better and they are probably all at the same level of crappiness and you can pretty much add that new Flash movie to the pile although Michael Keaton managed to save at least a part of that turkey.

I haven't seen any of your other candidates apart from the 2 Shazam movies, which I think of as kids movies like Spy Kids or SharkBoy and LavaGirl. I enjoyed them, but I realise I am in a minority. With Shazam, the idea of a kid, or kids for the sequel, being in adult bodies with superpowers is an interesting comedic premise, but having Aquaman behaving like a 12 year old just makes him look like a douche. And don't get me started on the visual effects or the plot. Decent effects can pull an otherwise stupid movie over the line, (Battleship for example. Yes, I'm easy pleased.), but that aint happening with this dud.
