Discuss Tenet

From Merriam-Webster:

Definition of tenet

: a principle, belief, or doctrine generally held to be true especially : one held in common by members of an organization, movement, or profession

Is that the meaning of the title? Or is the movie about something else?

I think there are two possibilities here:

  1. We all experience time moving on one direction throughout our lives without exception. It is a fundamental truth of the universe we live in - or so we all believe - i.e. a Tenet of our reality. (on the Macro scale - I'm aware that there have been experiments on a quantum scale that may show effect preceding cause)

  2. Tenet is a palindrome (can be read in either direction - like time seems to be in the film) and sounds suitably enigmatic for a Nolan movie!

(or both)

Also, the main characters are bound by a tenet, the belief in that what they are doing is part of a plan through time, forwards and backwards...

Clever name...
