Discuss Meg 2: The Trench

When they have money to finance garbage like this. The first one was definitely not a good movie and certainly didn't warrant a sequel, but either way somehow this sequel seems to be quite a bit worse than the first one. There was a discussion on (I think) the Ruse De Guerre movie how Jason Statham's fight scenes looked a lot worse than they did before and it's the same thing here. Maybe he had more competent director and editors before, but probably it's just his age getting up to him. The rest of the cast is a forgettable selection of what seems to be mostly b-listers and some (probably) famous chinese guy to appease the chinese market. Too bad he can't really speak english, but who's counting. The story....who cares really....something something big sharks.....something something mining in the bottom of the ocean. Speaking of the bottom of the ocean when your air supply is drying up and you are trying to get from point a to point b it might be a good idea to cut the unnecessary chatter debates and save the oxygen, but that's not how these experienced sea fairing men and women roll. I'm surprised they didn't start doing MacBeth on their way to the ocean floor mining base or whatever it was. Apparently pressure is not really an issue at the bottom of the ocean either. Just blow out the air from your sinuses bro! You'll be fine! And off you go!

Interesting to see that this movie is sitting at a score of 5.2 at the other shameful movie site that shall not be named. Why do I mention this? I thought I was in the minority here thinking this movie is total garbage, but usually these big blockbuster "spectacles" get rather high scores at release and it dwindles down over time to something more realistic. It'll be interesting to see where this one ends up when it is so low from the get go. Well earned though and a crappy movie through and through. So many pointless unfunny and uninteresting characters and even the supposed high point of this movie i.e. the monster scenes are just bad and largely few and far between.

Anyways perhaps I was being too harsh making fun of that just blow out the air from your sinuses bro scene. There's a lot more where that came from. My favourite is the one when the evil business woman sees the small island get swarmed by these reptilian monsters who kill everything on site and decides to escape via helicopter. Now she is sitting in the copter and the pilot is just about to lift off and fly her out to safety when she hears a noise and tells the pilot to go check that out. Yes, the pilot, the one and only person on the island who can get her to safety at that very moment and she sends him to his immediate death. That is the kind of mental gymnastics you are treated to non stop with this asinine movie.I'm not even going to start with the heroic chinese who care so much about environmental polluting. Kind of like making a movie about the Taliban and their efforts in securing women's rights.
