Joe Shuster was in the 1921 Canadian census for Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His father was from Rotterdam, Holland. There was also a Frank Shuster as his ( Joe's) brother. The two boys were first cousins to CBC comic actor also named Frank Shuster ( see my postings). By I think 1930 in the US census now Joe Shuster turns up with his family in Cleveland, Ohio. This is very significant because it is in Cleveland that Shuster will meet a fellow teenager named Jerry Siegel who write Superman's name and background story while Joe draws the Man of Steele using the tall buildings of Toronto ( not Cleveland!!) for the skyscrapers of the fictional city Metropolis. How significant the censuses!
