Discuss Eva Marie Saint

Miss Saint looked terrific, and beautiful (and completely natural - doesn't appear to have had any obvious type "work" done), during her presentation on the other night's Oscars telecast. I was surprised and impressed when she mentioned she's 93 (will turn 94 this July), as she most certainly doesn't either look or seem that old, and still is getting around well and ably without anyone assisting her. She not only walked out onstage alone, but did her entire extended bit with no one surrounding or aiding her, plus didn't use a cane. Also she clearly still is entirely mentally agile.

Wishing her more years of good health and fulfilling life. bouquet

By the way, I had always thought the name Eva Marie Saint sounds like a made up show biz name (mainly the Saint part), though from what I read up about her the other night, that's indeed her actual full birth name.

Her appearance was one of the highlights of the show. She looks fabulous, and is clearly still sharp of mind. It was sad to learn that her husband of 65 years passed away just last year.

Sadly so many elderly, particularly those in their 90s, give up after a loved one dies. Hopefully that won't be her. She no doubt has a very full and active life, which should help. Many elderly get into their early 90s. But getting beyond mid 90s is extremely difficult.

I was tremendously touched when I saw Miss Saint on the Oscars as I know how difficult that would be for anyone in their 90s to pull off (I was longtime caregiver to my late Mom, who passed at age 96 earlier in this decade), even someone who is still faring overall well; it's difficult to be and feel steady on the feet, without someone's (or a cane's or walker's) support, and mobility is usually slow. Yet Miss Saint walked a considerable distance, un-escorted and without any form of support to lean on. She may have made it look easy, but I'm sure she was putting her all into it.

God bless her.
