Julie Newmar and Mark Lennart both appear in Buck Rogers In The 25th Century

Shatner as Mark Twain on “Murdoch Mysteries” (S9E2)

Twain was a master wordsmith, known for the art of making profound, insightful declarations under the guise of light humor. Murdoch Mysteries tend to write historical characters with a bit too much levity; but, still, it gets a thumbsup_tone1.

Anyway...

Twain left instructions not to publish his autobiography until 100 years after his death. Is that confidence, or is that arrogance, or is that...?

Well...

Literati have their Shakespeare.

Scholars have their Socrates.

Nerds have their Yoda. pray

And...

Plain Folks have their Twain. No one warms the literary cockles-of-our-heart like Mark Twain!

William Shatner as the Dodgeball Chancellor in “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” (2004)

Over time, I’ve seen bits and pieces from this movie…but, never long stretches and never the whole thing. This time I caught like the last 30 minutes. I thought Shatner was just a cameo when I first saw him pop up; but, no, he had a role-role.

Also, I was surprised at the number of recognizable faces in bit parts or cameos. It’s like showing up at a class reunion and being surprised…and delighted…that so many old friends and acquaints had returned.

Speaking of cameos, must say, Lance Armstrong’s heart-to-heart, tete-a-tete is kind of sad now. But, I can see where it must have been a real feel-good moment at the time.

Finally, think Shatner is more entertaining in a comedic role when he is part of an ensemble and not the focus. thinking this could be a factor in why his show, “…My Dad Says” (2010-2011) tanked.

Dodgeball Chancellor

William Shatner on “The Virginian” (S4E4), as wrangler Luke Milford.

Funny, for some reason it’s easy to accept Shatner in a ‘cowboy’ role…he just seems more of a natural than Kelley or Nimoy (The Virginian – S2E14).

The clip is pretty awful; but, at least we get to see Shatner rocking two very “familiar personas” —man’s man and ladies' man.

Sally Kellerman (Dr. Elizabeth Dehner) in "The Outer Limits: The Bellero Shield (S1E20, 1964)" as Judith Bellero.

Leonard Nimoy on "Perry Mason" (S6E13)

He played a cuckolded husband.

He was a guy who only earned " beer money"; who had the misfortune of marrying a girl with " champagne taste".

Perry Mason, Burger, Tragg and Brice Gang up On Mr. Spock

ON ANOTHER NOTE: Hard to believe that back then a shows could run 30 episodes per season. Perry Mason from 1957-1966, totaled 271 episodes!

So often when a known actor is a guest star in a murder mystery, he or she is the guilty one. It makes it almost too easy to solve.

Those were the days when each episode - except for a two-parter - had a different plot.

Nowadays there is usually one main plot for each season, with some subplots and fillers thrown in to make it longer than necessary. I guess this way it's easier for writers. They don't have to think of a new story for each episode.

Leonard Nimoy (heard-NOT-seen) on “Story Television” channel narrating: Ancient Mysteries, S3E25; “The Puzzling Pyramids of Mexico” (1996).

I caught (maybe) the last third…quite interesting. Even so, I’m still thumbsup thumbsdown when it comes to such show and thinking how much is based on fact AND how much is based on the “elasticity” of the imagination of those who interpret the facts.

William Shatner as “The Heavy” David Marlowe in “The Indian Detective” (S1E1 - 2017).

Happened to see a flash for it on Netflix, and decided to check it out. While I like the lead actor, Russell Peters, in the role…don’t plan to check out any more of the series. Just too many cookie-cutter-characters. Plus, “The Big Reveal” (at the end of S1) was so weak that it looked as if someone had simply patched-something-on, just so it could have an ending!

As for Shatner’s portrayal: face_vomiting

Yes. I know it's meant to be "light"; but still...light or no light--still has to have some substance!

William Shatner (YooToob Clip) Funniest Joke I Ever Heard. (Awards Show Network)

@FormerlyKnownAs: I saw William Shatner on an episode of The Big Valley on YouTube the other day. He played a Law School friend of Jared (Richard Long) Barkley's who apparently had started robbing banks and had come to Stockton, California (where the series is set) to rob the bank there.

Hard to accept him as anything other than "Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes".

Kind of a typecasting; but not to a particular role...just to a particular kind of EXPECTED behavior.

I think this happens to a lot of actors. Not for nothing Tom Hanks has never so much as 'jaywalked' in a role. (NOTE TO LITERAL THINKERS: We are going for concept here...so save yourself the search. slight_smile )
