Discuss Star Trek

WLVI Channel 56 in Cambridge, Ma. and the Melkotian from 'Spectre of the Gun' that is. They used to put the shot of the Melkotian along with the shot of some rock monster (from what show I do not know) to be CDF's opening at 1 pm EST Saturday afternoons. Later on Saturday nights they would have Creature Feature with just the Melkotian.

Some thought the Melkotian was actually voiced by James Doohan. It was clearly Abraham Soafar (he can heard and seen in 'Charlie X").

In a previous posting I reported that 'Spectre of the Gun' had I think more Twilight Zone actors than any other ST ep! Soafar being one. See my postings!

Did you count them? laughing

More about CDC and CF! After the two opening heads they would show scenes from 'The Beast with Five Fingers' where Peter Lorre gets burned. A scene from the 1954 Godzilla where he blows smoke. They then showed some scenes from a monster movie 'Blood bath' starring beautiful Lori Saunders ( a creature comes out of a giant vat, a girl screams, a vampire walks towards her). Finally they show giant bird-monster claw from some film. Then they would show the two monster heads again. If this was the CF it was the same sequence but with a scene from The Thing' would open up the sequences. The part where the two army men open the door and the Thing is behind and he prevents them from closing it.

I commented on the movie 'Blood bath' before just see my old comments!

Good news! Four or six months back somebody put up WLVI's Channel 56 old 70's Creature Double Feature opening at YouTube. Go to "WLVI Channel 56 -Creature Double Feature-Curse of the Faceless". This is at YouTube. They start showing the old opening at about 59 seconds or one minute. See how it really compares to the description I made years ago of it by memory of 40 years plus.

The other creature in the CDF opening is the Creature from the Black Lagoon done up a little different as well.

I remember Lori Saunders from Petticoat Junction.

That is not Lori Saunders you see screaming in the opening of CDF but that is from her film "Blood bath".

Lori Saunders was also in the cast of "Gilligan's Island" rehash show "Dusty's Trail," with Bob Denver as the scout/mapper/whatever for two covered wagons lost in the Old West. Terrible idea. Cancelled after one season.

Seems to me she played the Maryanne part in that show, and Jeanine Riley - who was on Petticoat Junction as was Lori Saunders but not at the same time - played the Ginger part.

Or maybe it was the opposite. I thought Lori Saunders was cuter than Jeanine Riley, but Riley may have been the "star" just because she was blonde.

Pat Woodell had been very beautiful and fine as original Bobbi Jo but Saunders outdid her both ways as a replacement. Saunders was the best.

Back to the original point. Bigger eyes on the Melkotian almost hid it's resemblance to it's ST "self".
