과학자들은 인간과 흡사한 인공지능 기계, 호스트를 이용하여 서부시대 테마파크를 만들고, 게스트라 불리는 인간들은 마치 게임처럼 그곳에서 범죄를 저지르며 즐긴다. 그러던 중 일부 기계들에게 프로그래밍 된 행동 이외의 것들을 하는 오류가 발생한다.

윌리엄이라는 이름의 또 한 명의 게스트가 웨스트월드를 방문한다. 메이브의 감정에도 이상이 생기자 관리자들은 수치를 재조정하려한다. 맨 인 블랙이라는 남자는 무언가를 찾기위해 호스트를 이용한다.

웨스트월드의 한 호스트가 정해진 행동반경을 벗어나 사라지고, 직원 두 명은 호스트를 찾아나선다. 테디는 예전 기억의 일부를 되찾고, 원래의 일상에서 벗어나게 된다. 버나드는 이상행동의 원인을 찾다가 새로운 정보를 알게 된다. 돌로레스 역시 일상에서 벗어나 새로운 행동을 하게된다.

돌로레스는 윌리엄과 함께 떠나게 된다. 맨 인 블랙은 미로의 비밀을 풀기위한 중요한 단서를 발견한다. 포드 박사와 테레사는 웨스트월드와 관련한 이야기를 나눈다. 메이브는 반복되는 기억에 시달리고, 결국엔 자신의 기억들이 실제로 존재했던 사실이라는 것을 깨닫게 된다.

돌로레스와 윌리엄, 로건은 온갖 범죄자들이 모이는 타락의 도시에 도착한다. 그곳에서 그들은 위험한 미션을 수행하게 되고 돌로레스에게 또 한번의 변화가 일어나는데... 한편, 맨 인 블랙은 생각치도 못한 인물을 만나게된다.
