Well, the nanny can’t just come back, so next season either focuses on the family struggles to cope or find her again, or focuses on the nanny and her religious cult. But really, if the family’s story is done and we move on to a new cult storyline, I’m okay with that.

we're not, we're talking about the actual cricket. the one she finds, traps under a glass etc.

It just hit me. I am sorry.

I should do a binge-rewatch.

It looks like there will be season 2 and most of the cast will return. I am not sure how to feel about it, I really think the story of this family ended and I very mush prefer to see a different cast. Maybe show them as small guest appearance, I feel that additional development with the characters may harm the impression of the first season. But if they do keep it with them I hope they know what they are doing and are planning to develop the characters further in an interesting way.

Excellent show... Glad i watched it...

I don't think I'll watch it if there is a second season... It seems that it works better without a second season that would explain too much, or give us other mystery box tangents... I don't want anothe Lost (i watched the first season and a half of that and then it was clear what they were doing... just stringing you along for no reason other than making a longer running show)...

I think they could have made the first season a bit tighter if they didn't have the idea of subsequent seasons... This is the perennial problem with all TV shows... but is a serious flaw for a horror series...

Maybe an anthology series can get away with it, like Hitchcock Presents, Hammer Horror, Twilight Zone, or Black Mirror... But for a sing story like Servant... I doubt a second season would add as much as it subtracts...

Family's story ended? I thought it kind of just began and most of the season 1 will be explained in season 2.

Can you explain how season 1 is the end of the story?

It ended because we got answers why Dorothy and Sean have that baby, what happened the night Julian came to check on Dorothy, and we can piece together the general picture of how their lives evolved after that. The main mystery that remains is still the Leanne and her strange cult. I feel that over explaining will definitely hurt the show. We don't need specifically coherent explanations how things happen, that sense of unclearness and mystery works perfectly for the show. So diving in even deeper into Turners life and into the cult will not do any good. Sometimes it's better not to look directly into things.
So the better development will be a different setup and different characters, but if they do decide to continue with Turners then writers need to step over the past and take their characters further into the future. There is no point to keep focusing on what happened before, just evolve them into different versions of themselves that we still don't know.

Dwelling on the past never does any good to anyone and a sign of a weak characters and bad writers. That's why we get so many reboots for comics characters - they are only good for origins story. Any evolution of the character will only show weaknesses, how really silly they are and how they don't really have a place in real world.

I can see where you are coming and I think I share your view. Although if our Night boy comes up with a really good sequel I wouldn't really mind!

Well, what do you think now after season 2 ended? I still liked it, but I don't think it was on the same level as season 1. The story and the storytelling got worse. A lot of confusing moments, characters too erratic and chaotic, and not in a good way. The writing lost it's symbolism, the whole season felt forced and really unnecessary. I really think they've made a mistake continuing with Turners, the situation just lost its sharpness and its edge. Unfortunately season 3 won't be better, like in so many cases with mystery stories it's better to reveal just a little. Any attempt to reveal more just risks falling into the ridiculous.

So basically its a sect of Angels, and one has chosen to break the rules to support a mother cause "Leanne" never had a true mother, an exception to the rule - broken away from the traditions that she was brought up to follow.

I mean that's basically what is happening. Season 2 really really opened things up especially in the second half. I can only assume many still are lost probably cause they were busy looking at their phones and social media apps while the show was playing in the background. Is usually the case.

PSa: I use the term "Angel" very loosely. Definitely not in the sense typically portrayed in other media, for obvious reasons.

PSb: Season 2 made me like the show more for the above reason. It's clear people are confused and upset with the show cause they obviously weren't paying attention.
