Discuss Drag Me to Hell

I really dug this one. It had everything, including creepy old lady with a curse and no teeth coming at you. It had a rare blend IMHO of good scares/jumps, suspense, humour and good old fashioned creepiness. ;)

You have to separate the more comedy fun horror and the straight serious horror. So two bests.

I remember one called Mama that I liked when it came out some years back.

It is a good, fun horror flick. But best of the modern era may be going a bit far. I think a horror film usually has to go that extra mile and have some sort of depth or allegory to be considered one of the greats. An example would be Dawn of the Dead's zombies in a shopping mall being a metaphor for consumerism.

But for the modern era? Someone already mentioned It Follows and The Babbadook. I'd also see films like Hereditary or Martyrs amongst others that would really be looked back on as stand outs.
