Discuss Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

I don't think I've been more disappointed in a Marvel film.

i enjoyed the movie as much as the first. it was entertaining.

There was almost zero difference in quality between GotG & GotG2. The only difference is that GotG came out first. I was obviously pleased with it. Ego was a much better villain than Ronan.

Yeah, I don't get the hate. I was going into this after hearing a number of critics I listen to either shit on it or say it was only so-so and I enjoyed the hell out of it, almost as good as the first one. Drax, Yondu, Mantis, Rocket and Groot were all standouts while Quill, Gamora and Nebula were more fine.

Also the first one had a better soundtrack, but I guess we can't have everything.

That's true, the first had a better soundtrack. And I didn't really like Nebula. But you're right, everyone else was just as good as the first. Drax was indeed on the edge of being too much, but never really crossed it for me.

You didn't think the story was put on the back burner to push for more comedy?

I'm definitely going to watch it again, but I can't imagine liking it as much as the first one.

Iron Man 3 was really good. Do you mean Iron Man 2?

Iron Man 3 was terrible. It had decent moments but was a mess. Felt like it was written by someone with their brain hemispheres separated.

IM2 was only a little better. They just took it out of the oven too soon. Also trite ending.

  1. IM1: A+
  2. IM2: B-
  3. IM3: C-

It didn't have the fun aspect of the first one but I can't say that I was overly disappointed. It felt a bit episodic.

I watched Part 2 and thought it was much better than Part 1. Then I watch Part 1 again. Still think Part 2 is funnier and better and more entertaining. Baby Groot was Awesome. Racoon got better. Love Yondu on this, get to show more of his powers and his heart. And that Alien girl who can feel feelings is awesome! Drax was totally an asshole to her.

I felt the same way. Ronan was a VERY weak villain. Ego was more memorable.

I thought Iron Man 2 was the worst. Iron Man 3 became a disappointment with the lame plot twist that Aldrich Killian was the "real" Mandarin (although it turned out he really wasn't, lol).

The story was fantastic. It was one of the best stories in the MCU so far. The first movie had just as much humor as the second and both had plenty of drama and action to go with it.

BTW Iron Man 3 was my least favorite of the Iron Man movies but it was very far from being "bad".

You are wrong.

Bad film.

Swap "comedy" for "character" and I would say yes. Instead of getting too bogged down in a complex plot that drives the movie, the movie instead has a very simple plot that allows the characters to be in the forefront and drive the movie.

I can honestly say out of all the Marvel movies only the two Guardian movies have actually had an emotional reaction to characters who die in the end.

I also think it's a testament that twice during Guardians 2 there is a huge CGI battle going on in the background while the movie chooses to focus on Baby Groot doing something cute instead. I looking forward to seeing this again.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was about the same as the first Guardians movie. It was good to see that they did Ego the living planet justice and not screw him like Galactus in the rise of the silver surfer. I also enjoyed the post credit scenes. They hint at Adam Warlock and the original Guardians of the Galaxy team showing up in the infinity stone movies. I would rank both Guardians 1 and 2 an 8/10

how will they fit all of these characters into these infinity movies?

I'm not sure. I know Adam Warlock plays a big part in the infinity story line in the comics. They might all be needed to take down Thanos. They might show up in a big battle scene. The Russo brothers have managed balance all of the other characters out well.
