How come Doctor Strange didn't use the time stone himself to go back in time to stop Thanos. The other thing is he was going crazy asking Tony to turn the ship around but couldn't he have just opened a portal?

I was wondering the exact same thing on why he didn't use the time stone to go back in time and stop Thanos.

It was a good movie, but it made it frustrating a little bit, especially when Doctor specifically pointed out before, that he'd not hesitate letting Tony Stark or Peter Parker die than letting Thanos get the infinity stone. I recall he said something like "It's the only way". Only way for what? Letting Tony Stark live? Did he agree with Thanos?

Guess he had a change of heart, or it'll be explained in the next chapter.

Time travel stuff can be hard to explain so Yea maybe in the next chapter but the Portal thing was a plot hole I'd say.

He saw the future and there was only one possible way to stop Thanos. Apparently, it's all playing out according to plan. We just haven't seen it yet.

Er, he can only affect time within a local area, that was already made clear. Kecilius was also able to break the spell, so I am sure Thanos could have too. I'm not sure what the range of Strange's portals are. It may be he can't teleport to other planets.

heh? that line was obviously a set up for the later scene. It was specifically to show us that there was another reason he was giving Thanos the time stone, the specific reason would obviously be a spoiler for the next film.

Exactly, and in the one possible good ending, Strange must've saw that Tony was there. Therefore, Strange had to save Tony.

I was under the impression that the only 1 good outcome that Dr Strange saw involved him voluntary giving up the time stone to Thanos. He was telling tony this is the only way.

Long before any of that at the start when Thanoses minions showed up on Earth Strange couldn't have gone back in time then, to change things or give them more of a warning. I think it is a plot hole at the end of the day.

Well yes, anything involving time travel is bound to create huge plot holes.

He can't just go back in time to any time he pleases. He can rewind time but that's been shown to be limited to only effect things in close proximity.
