Discuss Blade Runner 2049

Let's face it, no-one wanted a Blade Runner sequel. It's the ultimate 'not needed' sequel. Was there a great clamour for a sequel? Did people post on movie message boards demanding a sequel? Nope. No-one was desperate for a return to the Blade Runner universe.

If a sequel had to be made, I dunno, perhaps around 1992? Ten years on - something like that. But to leave it 35 years? Harrison Ford is too old for this sequel. His voice sounded so decrepit I expected him to cough out cobwebs.

It's just sad how people can't let go. They have to revisit the past but that's why it's called the past. It's meant to stay there. Not be revisited. It's for the best BR 2049 flopped. It brings closure.

Yes but WALLACE also SPEAKS with a FORKED TONGUE in that CLIP ...

because he also FAILS to point out how if ONE HUMAN gives ORDERS that they want the REPLICANT to OBEY ...

that are IN CONFLICT with another different set of ORDERS that another HUMAN gives another REPLICANT to OBEY ...

then one is right back where they started again ...

with situations that involve still more CHAOS again.

And the question becomes WHY didn't someone else also see this FLAW in LOGIC before they gave WALLACE the OK to make the kind that OBEY???

Perhaps his having CONTROL of the FOOD SOURCE is the ANSWER???

Either do what WALLACE wants or STARVE to death???

And maybe WALLACE also wanted the BLACK OUT to happen so that he could end up with CONTROL of the FAKE FOOD, which also made him the RICHEST MAN (even more so than TYRELL).

And with CONTROL of the FOOD SOURCE he probably also knew NO ONE could say NO to him or to whatever it was that he wanted them to do???

In other words, maybe WALLACE also CREATES a situation where both the REPLICANTS and the HUMANS had to OBEY HIM???

I tell you something else, I got the strangest premonition that EVERYONE depicted in the film were replicants! Like, not one single human was shown in the entire film! I kept thinking that was going to be the huge mind fuck at the end of the film.

OT but I can't wait for WestWorld. When is that supposed to start up?

The premiere date for Season 2 is unclear... but it'll be a while

"My suspicion is [the second season won't be ready until] sometime in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. So I don't have a date exactly -- they're going to have to map it out and write the scripts -- but my guess is sometime in '18," Casey Bloys, HBO programming president told EW. "I didn't know exactly what to expect in Season 2. And what they came up with is as exciting, mysterious and as fun as Season 1. And completely original, as well."

THE OUTSIDE WORLD of WESTWORLD is what I want to see.

And one also suspects that MAYBE the WORLD that we WITNESSED inside of the BR 2049 SEQUEL was also located OFF WORLD.

Like on MARS or on some other MOON or planet.

Maybe one where HUMANS also couldn't survive unless they remained INSIDE for the most part???

Because if conditions are so bad that NORMAL FOOD can't GROW there anymore, then one would also assume the place isn't FIT for HUMANS to be able to live and thrive either?

And maybe that could also explain the reason why DECKARD couldn't stay there at the FARM with RACHEL and had to seek out some other kind of SHELTER or place to stay?

And WHY stay ON WORLD where it would be easier to be HUNTED DOWN???

Doesn't it also make more sense for them to go OFF WORLD and search for a PLACE to HIDE where it would be HARDER to find them???

No, because at this point Earth is the asshole of the galaxy. It's burnt up and used up and no one gives a fk about it. You heard Wallace. 9 worlds. 9! And that is just what HE helped bring presumably there are many, many others as they talked about off world wars in the first Blade Runner. What was that famous quote Roy says before he dies about seeing a starship battle or some shit? Anyways, the point being that there are many, many planets out there to live on. When you wanna hide out you go where no one wants to go not where everyone is chillin'.

Ha ha, good theory hun and what a mind fk would that be! I love it! GD can't wait for WW. My new favorite show (GOT was before that).

How is it possible to get a NOTIFICATION that someone's posted a message to this topic and then come here only to find out that no one has posted one here?

According to the VIEW ACTIVITY option it also looks like it was the TROLL named fan of films who goes around posting NEGATIVE messages to message boards where they constantly BASH and ATTACK other shows like TWIN PEAKS.

So either the TROLL posted something here and then DELETED IT, or else they had what they posted DELETED by someone else like a MODERATOR???

Someone obviously needs to GET a LIFE.

Ah, what a nifty little feature. This site doesn't have many trolls though which is why I like it. But on the other hand, the community is rather small. Its the price you pay to reduce troll encounters though.

Anyone who begins by saying this:

Let's face it, no-one wanted a Blade Runner sequel.

Is obviously not someone who operates from a RATIONAL point of view.

And when they also make this claim saying that:

No-one was desperate for a return to the Blade Runner universe.

They're also jumping to the FALSE CONCLUSION that EVERYONE sees things the SAME WAY as they do.

If they're the one who DELETED whatever message it was that they posted to this topic, then apparently they must have also read the responses that were previously posted here???

And realized how SILLY they looked and sounded to us???

But then they probably also didn't realize how we could still see WHO it was that posted the DELETED message here???

At least this one also only seems to BASH and ATTACK MOVIES or TV SHOWS as a way to amuse themselves.

Never did understand the reason why someone wants to WASTE one's time that way.

Expressing your opinion and dislike is one thing.

But starting SEVERAL TOPICS where you basically keep saying the SAME derogatory THINGS over and over is another.

Did you see where this so called FAN of FILMS (the IRONY of using such a name) also started 4 or 5 TOPICS yesterday where they criticize this film in spite of the way that it's also received so many other POSITIVE REVIEWS that PRAISED it???

Well, I agree when someone starts off with "no one wanted" it is quite presumptuous. I just may have a more conserved definition of troll which to me is someone who deliberately posts outrageous comments for the very purpose to get a rise out of people. I honestly cannot even find you an example on this website as easily as I could on IMDB which was INFESTED with trolls. All you have to do was go to any of the most popular TV shows like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead and wait approximately 3.2 seconds before someone posted some outlandish rubbish. I remember there used to be a clown on the GOT board that used to create usernames that were spoilers. I musta had a list of 200 people blocked on IMDB. Then again I posted there for 15 years grin

But yeah, this post is the closest thing to a troll post I have encountered here on TMDB. This clown isn't even in the discussion that he started! That's a HUGE clue that he is indeed a troll. But he is a minor league one. He musta went to some discount Troll school. Maybe Trump University. rofl

I enjoyed it but it is nowhere near as good as the original. I recently rewatched blade runner the final cut and it still holds up after all these years. Blade Runner 2049 is more of a slow burn drama.

The original was received the same way as some people react to this film. But it's also had the ADVANTAGE of TIME, which has allowed others who didn't like it that much at first to watch it again and again and gain more knowledge of things in it that they hadn't noticed the first time they saw it.

So after this film has been around for a while, and others have had a chance to WATCH it again as much as they've seen the original film, one also suspects it may one day become as appreciated as the original film.

This is how I was able to judge the quality of 2049. When I first watched the original I thought it was "meh". Of course I was very young when I first watched it and a lot of the points went over my head. Watching 2049 as an adult I immediately liked it. This is only after one viewing. There is a small chance that after repeated viewing I may notice something silly that I didn't notice before that may make it like it less but in my experience, it is usually the other way around. Right now I think 2049 is a good film and it may evolve into a great film.
