Discuss Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

... They can't make a DECENT film in this franchise anymore.

The first one - a giant mainstream blockbuster. EVERYONE loved it.

JW - the 4th one, that is. a mainstream blockbuster. EVERYONE hated it.

So obviously this is not about some indie v mainstream thing. It can be both slightly silly and great. How can so many ppl and so much money create something so terrible as this?

How can there possibly be anything fresh with " oh look dinosaurs"?

Yea, when it's outside your window looking in.

Don't you mean when the dinosaurs are saying "Oh look! Humans!!!"

I couldn't imagine that since animals work off of instinct regardless of what they see. Ignoring my comment, I guess it could work both ways!

Oh yeah, it's not meant literally, but no, most animals do have curiosity, and will check things out just to see what's going on. But I think we were saying the same thing, generally.

The same reason Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street are more or less relics of our cinematic yesteryear today. You can only milk these premises for so long

I don't entirely agree with you here. Taking the series in the genetic espionage/lack of regulation direction was the right move, in addition to bringing the series back to the books themes, but as I have stated elsewhere, I wish they would stop Trevorrow from writing the scripts himself. The stories are not actually that bad, but they are sloppy and should have gone through another round or two of revision from other writers before proceeding with filming.

How much can they milk out of themes of genetic espionage and lack of regulation? With or without Trevorrow writing the scripts, this entire premise doesn't lend itself to much more elaboration beyond "dinosaurs tear sh-t up and gore lots of human beings"

They never really fully explored those themes in the films. Aside from it being the set-up for the events of the first film, they never really delved any further into biosyn, Dodgson, and Crichton's concerns over the lack of regulation, and where it could lead.

I wonder what kind of story ideas will be considered old and stale that people will be arguing about 1000 years from now?

Where have you been hiding, Barn? We haven't seen you around here in a minute

Hi! I'll explain very late tonight; I'm going to the drive-in now! You know...double feature and all takes a while to do. https://www.westwinddi.com/ (Click on the one that says Glendale AZ.)

Just got back from the drive-in and I had a really nice original response when I screwed it up trying to post a picture for the very first time and lost the entire post. So I'll make it quick this time, mainly I was looking for a movie site that had lots of traffic and (without giving away any names) one has to do with Blu-ray (which I recently discovered has a forum for every movie on Blu-ray reviewed.) And though it's been a while, I decided to get active again on a different forum that has to do with Audio/Video. Then there's a site I've known about a for a few years but never really gave it a try and well...ever wonder why movies have black bars on the top and bottom on video releases? Without going into any detail; I'll just say those black bars in effect makes that movie letterboxed. I noticed at that site there's a link to IMDB and TMDB! So I figured this site has some draw and I thought I'd give it a try again, not that I ever totally gave up on it. I'm glad I picked this site (after IMDB eliminated their forums) as it was the closest in design I was used to when it comes to forums.

Since it's been a while since I posted on this site, I only get very few replies now and then so I decided to get involved again when I received an email noticed like I did in this thread.

By the way, I was very excited about an email from TMDB towards the end of 2019 that talked about the great advancements and new features arriving here. And one of the neat things I read talked about one of the most anticipated movie for 2020 was "Tenet" (2020.) Long story short, I finally saw it about a month ago at a indoor theatre then again about two weeks later at the drive-in. By the way, even with Covid; I've been able to visit the drive-in fully during the most extreme of the shut down (as long as you stayed in the car!)

At the drive-in
