Our cultural climate being what it is at the moment, movies and shows that feature women prominently have to make a choice: Throw in at least a couple of genuflections to the boilerplate feminist talking points that are all the rage over on Salon and the like. or risk not securing financing for the movie

Problem with the movie is that the cast & crew were trying to jam a square peg in a round hole, a movie about ghost hunting isn't going to appeal to enough women alone for it to be largely profitable, to be frank a genre movie starring four wacky women was never going to resonate with everybody when only half of the lead actresses are huge draws at the box office.

Of course feminist genre movies are bombing so that tend will likely be ending.

Hollywood dosent care if they lose money as long as they can push that agenda. But saying that, thanks to Covid19 things might actually change because they cant afford to pander to people who actually dont give a shit about their product. Time will tell but I hope the pendulum starts swinging the other way soon.

An female cast might'[e worked if you got different actresses and if the movie was a legacy sequel.
