If you're a fan, and especially if you're a musician, you should try to see this PBS special. You might be able to watch it at the PBS website or YouTube or elsewhere if it's no longer on TV. It deconstructs various songs on the album and reveals the musically sophisticated techniques in this groundbreaking album that Rolling Stone has called the number one album of the rock era.
It details the Beatles' breakthrough experimentation with electronic technology and the manipulation of song elements, and highlights things such as the brilliant use of counterpoint in "She's Leaving Home" and the unusual drum syncopation in "A Day in the Life." Definitely worth watching to learn how this amazing album was put together, it includes recordings of the team rehearsing and tweaking the songs in the Abbey Road studio.
