Discuss Midsommar

During the final ceremony at the end of the movie, the bodies of some of the characters were rolled out and put into the scared building for their final sacrifice, aside from the two members of the cult who sacrificed themselves, you had the following:

  1. Simon- Who we most likely heard screaming earlier, who Christian found earlier strung up in the Chicken coop Viking style, his eyes were either missing or covered up, I think it was done to remove what he has seen earlier, which disturbed him.
  2. Josh-Cut up and gagged, his leg was found straight up in ceremonial fashion at the high priests house with a rune carved into the foot and his mouth was gagged during the ceremony, most likely so that he could not tell anybody what he has seen.
  3. Mark- The Jester, he was skinned (According to IMDB) and was worn by another character in the movie, that is why he looked odd. The Jester title was given to him do to his antics and him urinating on their sacred tree.
  4. Christian- Represents the animal, who fulfilled his task by procreating with Maja, once his purpose was fulfilled, he was chosen to be sacrificed by Dani, the May Queen. He was burned alive along with the two swedes. Connie-That is an unknown, her body was placed in a burlap sack and had pictures attached to it, not really sure what it represents.

Basically, this cult was following a mix of Viking and Celtic rituals, or at least that is what it felt like, if anyone else has any other interpretations, please comment.

Makes a lot of sense

The elderly couple who jumped off the cliff were cremated. Not sure how they can have their bodies in the barn too.

The bodies were stuffed with straw. You can see some sticking out of Josh's mouth. It even catches on fire first before the body does.
