Discuss The Razor's Edge

I've lost count of the amount of times I have watched this movie.

Fabulous cast : Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney (they are perfect together) Clifton Webb, Anne Baxter, John Payne.

This is the first movie Ty did after he returned from WW2...

Tyrone plays well to do man travelling the world searching for enlightenment after he narrowly missed death at the end of WW1. Gene Tierney plays his wealthy fiance who drops him like a hot potato because he's not as interested in wealthy as she is. Then tries to get him back years later because she is still in love with him although she's married to someone else.

Taken from book by Somerset Maugham, this movie is well worth watching.

On a side note, Tyrone is at the peak of his looks in this movie, I just couldn't take my eyes off him. heart_eyes

I saw it about two months ago, very captivating film. I felt bad for Sophie, but felt she was a coward to let her boyfriend get beat up. Gene 's character was a socialite slimeball.

Sophie was a raging alcoholic and probably had no idea on what was going on, not that it's an excuse. Yes Isabel was a piece of work but he was wise to her... Hope he found a nice girl in the States.

I as well. Did you ever read the book? I might someday. In regards to film adaptations of Maughm's other novels, I also saw Human Wreckage starring Bette Davis and The Painted Veil starring Naomi Watts years ago.

No I haven't read the book but will put it on my list. I'm a Bette Davis fan and that's one movie I haven't seen..I'll have to check out The Painted Veil too. :)

Both were great films. It would be cool if someone did a biopic on the author.
