Discuss Pulp Fiction

I remember people just wouldn't shut up about this movie. Now nobody mentions it.

It certainly was different/fresh. Turns out to have been an even better movie than the hype, to me, anyway. But people are always looking for the next new thing so, of course, it's talked about less these days, it's not new anymore - no detriment to its enduring quality, though.

Wow, yeah I did not realize that either. Another one I didn't know for many years, is that it was Steve Buscemi as the waiter at Jackrabbit Slims.

Ha ha! Yes! Buddy Holly.

Yeah, never mind the countless wannabes trying (most of the time unsuccessfully) to emulate its quirkiness in both style and substance. After watching the umpteenth billionth Pulp Fiction clone, it does tend to tarnish one's tolerance of the original. But to me Pulp Fiction is far and away Tarantino's magnum opus. Even though I have generally enjoyed most of his flicks over the years and has had some really good ones (Inglourious Basterds, Kill Bill, Django Unchained) , nothing that he has done since comes close.

I disagree. It is one of the go-to movies for YouTube's reaction videos. There seem to be a number of Millenials that are introducing themselves to this movie.

I think it has much more lasting power than most other movies from that era.

With regard to the other movie mentioned in this thread, I am not generally very good at catching twists in movies, but I predicted the one in The Sixth Sense almost immediately. After that, the movie became a chore to sit through and I definitely did not rewatch it.

I much preferred Unbreakable. That one had a twist that did catch me off guard (and it shouldn't have).
