Discuss Napoleon

Half of the movie is his relationship with wife Josephine and fucking scenes, the other half gloss over is political/military career, which should be main focus of movie interesting for people and even then are the fighting scenes underwhelming.

5/10

You better rewatch Gladiator, which is far better than this budget Apple lullaby and features Phoenix as well. Btw 173cm tall Phoenix as Napoleon was miscast, Radcliffe would make more sense, he also looks much more French/European than Phoenix.

Agreed. Worth noting though that Napoleon was not short.

The sources estiumate his height 5′ 2″ - 5′ 6″ at best, so maximum 169 cm if we are generous which is a very short man in Europe.

That was average for his time.

Although the range may seem short by 21st-century standards, it was typical in the 19th century, when most Frenchmen stood between 5'2” and 5'6” (1.58 and 1.68 meters) tall. Napoleon was thus average or taller, no matter the interpretation.

Chart: Average height of men - in Germany, Netherlands and France - by year of birth, 1810 to 1980

The data is limited from 1810 to 1980. 10 years before Napoleon died. Once again, he was average for his time. The British spread rumers of him being short as propaganda. It's not historically accurate.

I agree. Belittling your adversary is common practice, and history is written by the Victors. The British won, so it is their history - true or false - that is told.
