I found it to be by far the weakest. Sorry, dude. The conversations were less interesting and didn't feel as natural. Not bad though and a good ending. It's just that the other two are excellent.

I agree, I watched this back to back with the first one and the chemistry between the leads in Before Sunrise was much more natural. The conversations were also better and more flowing. I enjoyed how they were more inventive, like doing the Q&A and pretending to call each other's friend. This one seemed a bit...forced and less natural, as you say.

Don't miss the third though, dude. It's very good.
Hey JJF, would you say part 3 is good enough that it would be enjoyed by someone who hated #1 and didn't watch #2? That would be me. And my criticisms are along the lines of what you said: I didn't find the chemistry believable, and to me the dialogue was awkward at best. I'm talking about #1. I'd be willing to give the whole trilogy a chance if it ends on a strong note.
Probably not. It is a little different from the other 2, as they are older it deals with relationships on a more realistic and less whimsical level. But if you don't buy these characters in the first place then it's just not gonna be for you. Personally in the first one I thought it was the best chemistry I've ever seen in any romance movie. But to each our own.

Thanks, yes definitely very good. Would say Before Sunrise is still better but this is close. Like you said, conversations were very natural and flowing, and as a parent and a man, I could totally relate to Jesse.
Would be interesting to know if women felt the same about Celine because to me it seemed like she was irrational and neurotic - and in the end accepted she was in the wrong. And to me that would be my only complaint...both Before Sunrise and Sunset had this hopeful, emotional ending whereas this one felt more as if Celine just gave up the fight.
Otherwise the first half was particularly strong, especially the dinner table scene. The other characters really added to it.

Did she accept she was in the wrong and give up? It's been a while since I watched it so I can't remember exactly. (Spoiler Warning) I thought it ended on an ambiguous note. Like she stormed out of the hotel room and kinda left him. Then he went down to sit with her at the bar and it seemed to leave it unsaid if they were going to stay together or not. Something that would be answered it they ever made a fourth one I assumed.

So that was my opinion she just gave up. She storms out (for the third time, and not coming back like the other two times). Jesse finds her at a table, he pretends he's a time traveller. She sort of plays along but finally dismisses this reconciliation attempt, and he then gives a "take it or leave it" speech - that his love is real and he's not going to keep coming back trying to convince her. But he says it in quite an aggressive tone. Then she just goes back to playing along with the time traveller story and implies that they'll make passionate love.
So to me, everything was wrapped up nicely just by this threatening speech and not really ambiguous. As mentioned, it was like she was easily convinced/gave up her anger with him. Not that I thought she should've been angry with him in the first place BTW!

Ok, thanks for the recap. I probably need to watch the film again, haven't seen it since it first came out.
