Discuss Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver

Nothing really seems to happen in the first thirty minutes. They spend an undue amount of time showing our heroes and some farmers collecting grain and.....uh....bonding or something. It was starting to feel quite pointless and I honestly couldn't help but to laugh when Djimon Hansou starts singing all of a sudden for no reason. I guess this is one way to pad the movie for no reason. I think they could've spent that time better by reminding us who are these people once again. I sure as heck can't remember who the tallish chick with the short hair is, but maybe it's better that way. Zack Snyder apparently believes in quantity over quality when it comes to his heros and heroines. Anyways I don't think anyone really expected part two to be any better than the first one, but based on my watching the first thirty minutes....well.....it isn't.

I also wanted to say that later on there's a scene where they are all sitting in a bar or something and they each open up and start going into their origin stories. Now the problem is that each story somehow manages to be more boring and asinine and than the one before it and you can't help but to wonder why on earth are they still delving into their boring back stories in part two? Shouldn't this have already been done in the first part for god's sake. It's not like they didn't have time with part 1 also clocking well over two hours.

Well, I got through the movie and as most can probably imagine it is quite bad. There were some funny parts in the movie though. Unintentional, but who is counting, and feel free to list your own:

During a battle two of the hero characters get into a spontaneous dialogue that goes something like this "If we have to die today..........we'll do it together!". Thing is though I don't think those two characters had said a single word to each other before that. Very emotional scene indeed.

The guns shoot lasers, but every once in a while they go BANG and in the next scene it's back to PEW PEW PEW. You can see Djimon Hansou put his fingers to his ears in one scene to protect his hearing. So which is it lasers or gunpowder?

The Mecha tank that spews a dense black smog. I guess it is running on the dirtiest diesel they could find. The empire apparently still runs on fossilized fuel despite mastering intergalactic space travel.

The massive oversized village (and planet?) destroying cannon aboard the super technical and sophisticated dreadnought is operated by a hand crank.

The whole asian character who knows sword fighting and karate or something because she is asian, right. But good thing they didn't want to make a stereotype out of her so instead of laser katanas she got laser machetes.

Those blue light sabers and red light machetes. Points to Zack Snyder for originality.

The whole plot especially how most of it revolves around the evil empire stealing some grain. Are they going to bake a cake for the emperor with it?
