Discuss Kristen Stewart

This looks interesting, a thriller. Along with Lizzie which is also in pre-production.

Hollywood Reporter "Stewart is set to lead an ensemble disaster movie titled Underwater, described as an aquatic Armageddon. The only plot synopsis shared so far is that a scientific crew tries to survive after a devastating earthquake, and Stewart's role is a jaded member of that crew. It sounds like it could also be compared to The Abyss. "

Awesome, thanks for the news.

Yes, this is a bit different for her but not too much a surprise. She does a lot of Indie or artsy type films but not just those types. Could be an interesting change of pace for her as she's been doing quite a few of the Indie/art type films for the last few years.

While some are making early comparisons of Underwater to the film Armageddon, only instead of taking place in space the action ensues underwater--the synopsis reminds me of another film shot in New Orleans a year ago called Deepwater Horizon.

And the thing I'm most excited by Ron is that Kristen won't just be playing a small supporting role in this film, like she did in most of her roles in 2016 (i.e., Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Anesthesia, Certain Women) but rather the lead role according to Variety:(http://variety.com/2017/film/news/kristen-stewart-adventure-thriller-underwater-fox-1201993923/)

I'm guessing that her outstanding performance as host on Saturday Night Live, which received very good TV ratings, caught the attention of producers and directors of tent pole fare who realize she's still relevant as an actor even to mainstream audiences. Hopefully this will translate into other lead roles in big budget flicks--perhaps including a role in a superhero franchise?

I've been wanting Kristen to star in a studio superhero movie for quite some time and this may be the next best thing because although she isn't portraying a superhero, she will play the lead female hero in this big budget actioner. And they will begin filming in March, so it won't be long before we see Kristen as a kick-ass heroine in a tentpole film.

Director William Eubank is a relative newcomer in Hollywood, primarily known for directing and co-writing the screenplay for the 2014 sci-fi thriller "Signals". This film currently has a 60% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics consensus has praised Eubank's ideas, vision and technical expertise. Critics however, have panned the storyline for "Signals".

So it's good to know that experienced screenwriters are involved in this project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian Duffield wrote the screenplay while Adam Cozad was brought in to revise the script: (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/kristen-stewart-talks-star-adventure-thriller-underwater-970819)

"Underwater centers on an underwater scientific crew that, after facing an earthquake, are forced to go on a dangerous journey for survival. The script, written by Brian Duffield with a revision by Adam Cozad, has been described as an underwater Armageddon."

Brian Duffield is known for writing the screenplays for "Insurgent" and "Jane Got a Gun", while Adam Cozad has written the screenplays for "The Legend of Tarzan" and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit".

So it appears this film is in good hands as far as who's directing and writing it--and I almost forgot--who's starring in it LOL!

A disaster film? Horrible news. She was good in those artsy-fartsy films. Well, it was good while it lasted. I hardly knew ya Kristen.

And she'll continue to do indie films. She has said she never intended to be a "star" and the whole "Twilight" thing was unexpected and unwanted. She was happy being a working actress choosing projects she liked. So there must be something about this she likes! Just saw "Personal Shopper" and she was great.

Unexpected? Absolutely! Unwanted? Absolutely not!

She always support the whole 'Twilight' franchise, and she's still very proud of being part of it, and it made her able to continue doing those Indies with a small, or in some cases, no salary at all. It's not easy to make a living doing Indies, as their budgets are usually quite small.

The 'Twilight' franchise made her very rich, and made her so fortunate that she still can afford to make those Indies, without thinking much about her salary.

The fame aspect was unwanted. She said she disliked being on the red carpet with a hundred flashes going off, which is why she always appeared very dower at he premiers. Loads of celeb mags and online sites slammed her for being unsmiling and so forth. She also hated the attention on her and Robert's relationship. So yeah, the money has given her the freedom to pick and choose (maybe she is running low so she hopped on this popcorn flick); but the fame wasn't what she ever was looking for. Her words\opinions not mine.

Agreed Oldnewbie. Kristen had a hard time with the Twilight fame while she was very proud of the work of herself and fellow actors in making it a very successful franchise. She loves the work she does but has some difficult being in the spotlight, as some other actors to also. But she seems to have adjusted well to being in the spotlight, especially now after the wildness of Twilight days. She does well in interviews, similar to how she was before the Twilight fame. More relaxed and open. She is basically a private person as much as possible given her type of work.

Twilight gave her the money and notoriety to be more selective about doing the kind of work she likes best. That is often Indie movies with interesting and challenging characters and story line. Usually smaller movies but that seems to give her more creative flexibility and to take on more new roles to learn and progress.
