Discuss เชอร์โนบิล

After about 3 quarters of a century of television and its successor media, we have seen some outstanding drama series amid oceans of garbage. Chernobyl is as good as it it gets. Try as I might I could not find fault with it; everything about this production is exceptional. Beautifully written, convincingly acted and the sets and wardrobe and art design are spot on.

And the lessons of Chernobyl are as relevant today as they ever were.

agreed, I haven't seen such captivating series since Breaking bad and first few seasons of black mirror (4th and 5th are kinda meh)

even before finishing I downloaded great score which played big role on impression, shame Johan Johanson with similar style won't make anything like this

My preference (not that it matters) is for diegesic music tracks, at least for solid dramas. Clearly not an issue for something like Star Wars, but is surprises me how much work some directors will put into authenticity with sets and costumes and then carelessly whack on an inappropriate soundtrack. 80s pop songs on movies set a decade earlier, modern atonal classical music in medieval settings- there is no shortage of dumb things on that score (pun intended).

Generally speaking if I've noticed a score on first viewing I figure it has failed. Hildur Guðnadóttir's work here is an exception. As dark industrial throbs and hums swelled underneath the drama being acted out I was searching on screen from where it came only to realise it was music. It is perfectly matched to the vision.

not really diegetic music, but if you like deep minimalistic soundtracks you should like Sicario, maybe Prisoners and Zero Dark Thirty, as for diegetic music not fan so can't recommend any, actually you should love Dunkirk, it's enjoyable but I am listening music while working and can't really focus with voices and movie sounds

also check Street sounds from August rush movie, that's very enjoyable track made from sounds of enviroment, was looking for something similar at release date, but never found really so gave up eventually https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hrDNGmAigU

if you would come to Prague, one old escalator in city center (I think Mustek station) it's playing EXACTLY same rhytm as Sicario score, I was amazed when travelling on it, shame I was rushing, I would use it multiple times just to listen to that amazing rhytm and record as big Sicario score fan

Thank you for the recommendations. I will check them out. Lovely story about the escalator in Prague. Cheers.

love Dunkirk MUSIC and ZERO DARK THIRTY plus the music in most Chris Nolan movies, so I often have the DARK KNIGHT play while I'm working on some computer stuff [love Heath Ledger Joker ] . Likewise Assassin's Creed & sometimes The Da Vinci Code .
