Discuss Van der Valk

I don't know how I missed this earlier in the summer when, judging from another discussion, it must've broadcast here in the US. Anyway, I enjoyed the premier episode which aired on my local PBS channel Sunday, especially seeing some old favorites: Beatie Edney (Prudie in Poldark) as the magenta-haired hipster attorney, and Joseph Millson (Banished) as yet another snooty bad guy - and swimming in the buff no less!

BTW nice boat, really nice boat, Piet Van der Valk lives on. I bet IRL something of the sort would be well beyond the means of a police detective. Just guessing though, I could be wrong.

I haven't watched the S2 finale episode yet (hopefully will sometime this week), though did catch a few minutes here and there while the first hour or so was airing. I thought the one guy looked quite like Penge in Victoria, though wasn't sure if it's the same actor as he looks/seems so different in VdV. Sure enough, though, now reading your comment, merry, and recognizing the name Adrian Schiller, that confirms it is, indeed, one and the same actor!

By the way, I completely agree with your earlier comment regarding Emma Fielding's character's unfortunate hairstyle!

On a different S2 note, we learned in E2 that Job is homeless and living out of the gym, though he refuses to explain why. I wonder why he is. (Was that question answered during E3?)

Hi genplant - apparently Job's sister, with whom he shared an apartment, is a cokehead and that seems to be the reason why he moved out and is living at the gym. Piet finally caught on but is sympathetic, and he assured Job that the team is there for him if he needs them. While that big boat of Piet's begs for a second hand (or two) on deck, and his romance with Lena has fizzled out, unfortunately Job is prone to seasickness!

Yeah, IMO Adrian Schiller really stood out in Victoria. I thought that show would continue, but apparently not.

Back to Van der Valk, it was interesting that Bodecker inferred there was an influential force above and beyond him that would never allow discovery of his pedophile/sex trafficking business, much less expose it to jurisprudence. This may be yet another allusion to the Epstein case, as some believe he set up his operation as a honeypot at the behest of the CIA and/or Mossad
