The Movie Database Support

Hi Travis,

Wondered whether we could add the following jobs :

Carpenter

Casting Associate

Hair Department Head

Thx

Mod edit:

You can request missing crew jobs in this topic. The new crew jobs have to be English and free of spelling mistakes. Please specify in which of the following departments each new job should be created: Directing, Writing, Editing, Camera, Production, Art, Costume & Make-Up, Visual Effects, Sound, Lighting, or Crew.

Kindly try to avoid making duplicates job requests (search the last few pages), or requesting crew jobs that are already added to TMDb.

I'm currently adding data for a whole bunch of preschool childrens shows, What do i add 'puppeteers' as?

@Notamymerrick We don't have that job yet I'm afraid :( Do they also do the voices -- I assume not, but if so just add them as the cast, and maybe when the job is added you can add them as puppeteers probably. It can take a while, adding crew jobs isn't really high priority.

Thank you for replying. Nope not the same people who do the voices. thumbsup_tone1 will add them as blank crew members for now.

Yes, there is an "Other" crew job! But I don't think that should be used (waaaay too vague) and we should just wait it out, but maybe other people have an idea.

Finally getting back to this thread because I noticed when adding a film that you added Playback Singer. Thank you!!!

A few more jobs to add ... smiley

I got some more, if not mentioned already:

  • Head of Story (Writing)
  • Head of Animation (the same category as Animation crew jobs... wish I think is Visual Effects, but can't be sure)
  • Head of Layout (Directing? The crew job Layout is in Directing!)
  • Lead Editor (Editing)
  • Senior Visual Effects Supervisor (Visual Effects)
  • Digital Supervisor (don't know.. almost all other "Digital" crew jobs are listed at Crew...)
  • Effects Supervisor (Visual Effects?)
  • Director of Previsualization (No idea where to put that one..)

Head of Layout (Directing? The crew job Layout is in Directing!)

I'm not sure. Maybe the original Layout should be moved. Here is one description of the job. What do you think? It's a partial fit, at the very least.

So difficult... maybe Visual Effects? But maybe that description is specific to CG.. I'm not sure.

Also a request/question, should we add Series Director? It's often used for anime series. (Right now, I add them add season level as "Director")

"Series Director: (監督, kantoku): The person in charge of the entire production, both as a creative decision-maker and final supervisor. They outrank the rest of the staff and ultimately have the last word. Series with different levels of directors do exist however – Chief Director, Assistant Director, Series Episode Director, all sorts of non-standard roles. The hierarchy in those instances is a case by case scenario." Source: https://blog.sakugabooru.com/glossary/

Or should they be added as Creator instead...?

Other job requests:

  • Supervising Animation Director (Visual Effects)
  • Action Director (I don't actually know what it is.. but.. http://madokamagicausa.com/staff-cast.php -- Japanese function name is をクションディレクター I don't know if it's a common job though)

Could we maybe change Comic Book to Graphic Novel (in line with the job Graphic Novel Illustrator ;-)) and move Graphic Novel Illustrator from Crew to Writer?

Usually with graphic novels/comics/manga there's a writer (Graphic Novel job) and an artist/illustrator (GN Illustrator job). Or at least with the mangas.

And I always thought comic is a bit of a derogatory term, much like nerd vs geek~

Hi....when are you going to upload these new jobs ?

When he has time. The job list is not a super high priority. He added LOTS beginning of this year.

Most notable ones are already there anyway, but there's always something missing, so that's what thisthread it for.

Ok...I was asking just to know it...not because it was a high priority. Thanks

Unfortunately this is not a film crew site, but a movie fan site. (I know this thread is talking about updating the crew listings in a timely manner), but most of these job categories listed above are incorrect or unrelated to each other. For example:

COSTUME & MAKE-UP --- These two departments are totally unrelated to each other.

That's like saying Set Dec. and Greens are in the same category, or Craft and Catering are in the same category, or even V F/X and S F/X ... Again, two unrelated categories / departments!

Perhaps the Site Administrators are taking their time in uploading the crew listings when they have corrected the confusing job categories and placing them in the correct departmental order???

Again this is low priority for them because this is a movie fan site, not a film crew site. But don't take my word for it, just read all the conversations / comments in all the threads.
