Dans la Macédoine du XIXe siècle, une jeune fille est enlevée puis transformée en sorcière par un esprit ancien. Curieuse de la vie en tant qu'humain, la sorcière tue accidentellement un paysan du village voisin et prend alors la forme de sa victime pour vivre dans sa peau. Sa curiosité allumée, elle continue à manier cet horrible pouvoir pour comprendre ce que cela signifie d'être humain.
Trois histoires s'entrecroisent sur fond de conflit ethnico-religieux entre Macédoniens orthodoxes et Albanais musulmans.
Dans un village macédonien abandonné, Hatidze, une femme d'un peu plus de cinquante ans, vêtue d'un chemisier jaune vif et d'un foulard vert, gravit une colline pour aller surveiller ses colonies d'abeilles nichées dans les rochers. En chantant un chant secret, elle manœuvre doucement le nid d'abeille sans filet ni gants. De retour chez elle, Hatidze s'occupe de ses ruches faites à la main et de sa mère alitée, se rendant parfois dans la capitale pour vendre sa récolte. Un jour, une famille itinérante s’installe à côté et le royaume pacifique de Hatidze cède le pas à des machines rugissantes, sept enfants hurleurs et 150 vaches. Cependant, Hatidze donne amicalement ses conseils d’apiculture éprouvés, son affection, et même son brandy spécial. Mais bientôt, Hussein, le patriarche de la famille itinérante, prend une série de décisions qui pourraient détruire à jamais le mode de vie de Hatidze.
"Skoplje '63" is a 1964 Yugoslavian documentary film directed by Veljko Bulajić about the 1963 Skopje earthquake (Skoplje, per film title, is the Serbo-Croatian spelling of Skopje). The filming started three days after the earthquake and lasted for four months. After that, Bulajić spent 12 months editing the footage at Jadran Film studios.
