En « l'an de grâce » 1482, Gringoire, troubadour, entreprend de raconter l'histoire dont il a été témoin. Les bohémiens, guidé par Clopin, arrivent dans Paris et comptent s'y installer quelque temps. Mais cela ne plaît pas à Frollo, archevêque de la cathédrale Notre-Dame. Utilisant le pouvoir de l'église, il convainc Phœbus, un jeune chevalier chef des archers du roi, de les expulser... Spectacle enregistré au Palais des Congrès de Paris les 16 et 17 janvier 1999.

Le grand retour de "Jesus Christ Superstar", célèbre opéra-rock créé dans les années 1970, dans une nouvelle production en 2019, avec dans le rôle de Jésus le chanteur de soul John Legend, dans celui du roi Hérode le rockeur Alice Cooper, et dans celui de Judas, l'acteur et chanteur Brandon Victor.

La production acclamée de Michael Mayer, présentée pour la première fois au cours de la saison 2012-2013, situe l’action du chef-d’œuvre de Verdi en 1960 à Las Vegas, un monde éclairé au néon dirigé par l’argent et des hommes puissants et impitoyables. Piotr Beczała est le duc, un artiste populaire et propriétaire de casino qui ne recule devant rien pour obtenir ce qu'il veut. Željko Lučić chante Rigoletto, son acolyte et comédien, et Diana Damrau est la fille innocente de Rigoletto, Gilda. Lorsqu'elle est séduite par le duc, Rigoletto se lance dans une tragique vengeance meurtrière. Štefan Kocán est l'assassin dirigé par Sparafucile et Michele Mariotti.

Notre Dame de Paris tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bell-ringer of the cathedral of Notre-Dame and of his impossible and tragic love for Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy. A love condemned by injustice and hypocrisy. Quasimodo forced by his ugliness to look at the world from the top of a tower one day he falls madly in love with Esmeralda who sees dancing and singing on the square in front of the cathedral. But Esmeralda is in love with Febo, the handsome captain of the King's guards. Febo is fiancé of Fiordaliso, a young and rich bourgeois, but the exotic and sensual beauty of the gypsy does not leave indifferent the man who immediately falls in love with her. Even Frollo, the archdeacon of the cathedral, is attracted by the gypsy and spying on the moves of the two lovers in a raptus of jealousy and repressed carnal desire to get rid of the rival stabbing Febo behind.

Le ténor Jonas Kaufmann est fascinant en tant que personnage principal de l'opéra populaire de Gounod, vu dans cette présentation en direct en HD de la production passionnante de Des McAnuff de 2011 qui place l'histoire mythique et intemporelle dans un décor du début du XXe siècle. René Pape dans le rôle de Méphistophélès est à la fois menaçant et élégant, et Marina Poplavskaya livre un portrait d'une intensité saisissante de l'innocente Marguerite. Russell Braun dans le rôle de son frère, Valentin, brille dans son air de l'Acte II. Sur le podium, Yannick Nézet-Séguin fait ressortir tout le lyrisme et la dramaturgie de la partition de Gounod.

This 2003 performance of Georges Bizet's 19th century opera Carmen was produced and directed by filmmaker and stage director Franco Zeffirelli, best known to many for the Academy Award-winning big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Shot at the Arena di Verona, the production features Marina Domashenko in the title role and music by the Orchestra of the Arena di Verona under conductor Alain Lombard.

La production magnifique et évocatrice d'Otto Schenk/Günther Schneider-Siemssen se poursuit avec ce deuxième opéra du cycle Ring de Wagner. Hildegard Behrens apporte une profonde empathie à Brünnhilde, la fille préférée du dieu Wotan (James Morris) qui pourtant le défie. La représentation de Wotan par Morris est à juste titre légendaire, tout comme Christa Ludwig, dans le rôle de Fricka. Jessye Norman et Gary Lakes sont Sieglinde et Siegmund, et Kurt Moll est le menaçant Hunding. James Levine et l'orchestre du Met offrent des couleurs et un drame étonnants.

French singer Sylvie Valayre is known for her versatile interpretations of spinto and dramatic coloratura soprano parts, especially for particularly gruelling roles like Lady Macbeth. Supported by Italian bass Enrico Iori as Banco and tenor Roberto Iuliano as Macduff, they make up a wonderful cast under the baton of Bruno Bartoletti, musical director of the Teatro Regio di Parma.

Verdi wrote this five act opera with a French Libretto for the Paris opera. Premiere 1867. Then there are three versions of this opera, the French 1867 version, the revised Italian four Act Don Carlo 1884, plus the Modena version 1886. This version is the 1884 version with Act One reinstated, as well as the original beginning of Act 2. To complicate matters the French opera was simply translated into Italian, and then the changes were made. There is an even newer edition completed in 1980 by Ricordi, and others floating around as well.

In this live performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera, Violetta, a courtesan much wooed by Parisian society, organises a grand party that is attended, amongst others, by the young Alfredo Germont. He confesses his feelings to Violetta, who is already suffering from consumption. She vacillates between genuine affection and a realistic assessment of her situation as a "fallen woman", which precludes any lasting relationship with a man.

"Manon", wrote Puccini to his publisher Giulio Ricordi in 1889, "is a heroine I believe in and therefore she cannot fail to win the heart of the public." This turned out to be a truly prophetic statement since none of Puccini’s other world successes were received on their first nights as rapturously as Manon Lescaut. The popularity of Puccini’s great masterpiece has never waned and the highly acclaimed Götz Friedrich production at Covent Garden was hailed as an operatic milestone. Two of the world’s leading stars--Kiri Te Kanawa and Placido Domingo--head a strong cast conducted by the brilliant Italian conductor Giuseppe Sinopoli.
