There's lots about this movie to either like or love.

Starring and showcasing the great Ramon Novarro, this entertaining and compelling Silent is full of light-heartedness (when appropriate), drama, romance, rivalry, and, at times, tempestuous action. Novarro expertly commands every scene that he's in - which is most of the film's scenes. Both he and Joan Crawford, who portrays his love interest, are wonderful - charming, appealing, engaging, and attractive. It's not difficult to see why each was such a justifiably huge star.

Ernest Torrence, portraying Novarro's ship's captain older brother, also does an excellent job.
