Vertigo is better ending. Completely devastating, devoid of all hope.
I haven't watched The Searchers in decades. Definitely need to give it a new look-see one of these days.
The cinematography is certainly striking in that clip you provided, hownos.
Searchers is an amazing film, one of the best westerns ever. Next to Red River, also my favorite John Wayne film.
All subjective, of course. I have not seen a lot of John Wayne's films yet but I certainly liked Rio Bravo more. :)
catmydogs, when I skimmed this page and saw your comment, I had to do a double-take at the name because I thought I must have written it myself!
I do like the door slamming practically in our faces as the film comes to a close, but I could never fathom Ethan's obsession with "racial purity" in the film.

The name is a comic strip reference. Not really guessable, either you know it or you don’t. ;)
I meant that your post was something that I would have written. Yes, I recognized the reference. Pogo.
Well then I’m double impressed! Great taste in movies and vintage comics! :) :)
One of the greatest movies ever by easily the greatest American director.
