SPOILERS AHEAD
I just watched this on Svengoolie last night. I think I had only seen it twice before. Once when first broadcast, and maybe again during ABC's re-run season. So over 50 years ago! I had forgotten most of the details. Equally as enjoyable as the original Night Stalker. There was a lot more bluster and confrontation between Kolchak and Vincenzo, which further established their contentious relationship in the coming series. McGavin as Kolchak came across as even more frustrated and unhinged than in the original. Great performances. This had to be one of Wally Cox's last performances. This was released in January 1973 and he died the next month. Chilling performance by Richard Anderson as the strangler. I think I liked this ending more than The Night Stalker. Carol Lynley just kind of disappeared at the end, never to be heard from again. No explanation. Maybe hidden in Witness Protection? But, I thought it was a nice touch when, on the drive to New York City (not Chicago!), that Joanne Pflug popped in the back seat, asking Kolchak and Vincenzo to pipe down, so she could sleep. lol
