To be honest, after Alien 3 they're all pretty bad imo, but I genuinely prefer the back-to-horror elements of A3 over Aliens. I did however quite like the ending of A:C, but that was about it.

I adore first 3 Alien movies. Resurrection was so cheesy but still fun. Also, I like Prometheus and Covenant but they are nowhere near as good.
AvP movies suck

I haven't seen the AVP movies, so I can't rate them. Of the other six:
1) Aliens (best) (theatrical release, haven't seen director's cut) 2) Alien 3) Alien 3 4) Alien: Resurrection 5) Alien: Covenant (who knew that Phil Dunphy from Modern Family would lead a space expedition;)/ 6) Prometheus (worst)

Of the ones really worth seeing:
I will admit, I haven't seen the Covenant film, or either of the Predator crossovers in their entirety. AvP has Sanaa Lathan, but not any new ideas, I think. It comes off as a cash-grab.

I would have to say I'd rate them the same as you. Depending on the day, I like Aliens more than Alien (Bill Paxton ftw!). I do believe that Alien is the best of all three original films though. I know it is universally hated, but I did like AvP. Prometheus was just confusing. The rest of the ones in the franchise (Resurrection, Covenant & AvP 2) I have not seen yet.

1: Aliens 2: Alien 3: Alien 3
The rest are all ehhh in my book. I was super excited about AvP when I heard the director say it was going to be R...and than the studio turned it into PG13 and shattered my dreams of seeing the two most badass creatures in the movie universe going at it...fuck you Fox!

It may come off as if I like Alien 3, but a huge chasm of quality is present between the first and the second rank on this list... so I don't really like any of the listed movies besides Alien and Aliens. I'm giving props to A3 for at least trying to respect the established character of Ripley (but none of the other characters of course), and for it's production design, but everything else was meh.
From Prometheus onward? One catastrophe after the other...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Covenant... But I detest the AvP films... Like I said, after Alien³ they really went downhill, but at least I can sit through most of them now and again... I Can't say that about the AvPs personally.

Haven't seen the new ones.
I guess I'm the only one who got Alien Resurrection. It is NOT an Alien film; it's a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film. Dark comedy, tongue planted so firmly in cheek it'll bore a hole. Exactly like Delicatessen, City of Lost Children, Bunker of the last Gunshots, it takes a very disturbing thriller premise and turns it into a twisted fairytale, heavy on the sarcastic visual humour.
I mean... the scene where General Perez gets his skull bitten open, then picks up a piece of his own brain and looks at it ought to be a tip that the director was having some fun with us. 🤣 It's a nod to the scene in Delicatessen when the guy gets a knife jammed into his forehead and calmly walks around pointing to it & asking people "is there something there?"
But I admit JPJ was an unusual pick to direct an Alien film. Not much crossover between the two audiences it seems. But since I'm a fan of both Alien & JPJ I loved it.

Why are alternative titles for movies that begin with "The" deleted when alphabetized as such? "The Deleted", versus "Deleted, The".
