I really enjoyed this as a kind of "boys' own" tale. A superb bady guy, routinely excellent acting, including from kids and some of the best fake laughter in film history. 81 years old and a great surprise given I had it in my head this was a Godard film! I now also know who this Gary Cooper guy is that is always referenced in pop culture and must see more films from this William Wellman as his catalogue is absolutely filled with very highly rated films that I've never even heard of.
