David Gordon Green has been hired to direct the next Halloween film. He will be co-writing the film with Danny McBride.
I really like both of these guys, however, the majority of their body of work is comedic. I'm kind of excited to see them take on the Halloween franchise, but I don't know how I will feel if they decide to take the movie in a comedy/satire direction. I hope they keep it more horror based.

I thought they gave up on making another one. Does it sound like a reboot to you or just a continuation of the series?

I definitely hope it isn't a comedy/satire. It would be horrible if it went the "Scary Movie" route. They did say it was going to be a dark movie, so that's a plus. I'm not sure if I'd rather see a reboot, or a continuation. I'm game for either as long as it's good.

Agreed. They have such potential to make Michael really scary again if they put some effort into it. Either way...I'll of course go see it. I just hope they avoid what RZ did with his movies...and avoid anything like part 8 (Ressurection). That was a total pos.

David Gordon Green has directed an... interesting variety of movies. I'll be curious to see how this turns out.
God knows, the series needs a fresh take.

I also hope they avoid what Zombie did. The only thing I remotely liked about his movies was that he made Myers brutal. Other than that I don't really have too many good things to say about his installments.

Agree with that. They need to straight out make him the boogeyman again!

Keep in mind that Author/Screenwriter/Producer/Director, William Peter Blatty entire resume was comedic movies (and successful career at that) before creating and bringing The Exorcist to the big screen and scaring movie goers.

Good point Sparky. Some of the people who are best with comedy have the darkest sides to them. And maybe it takes a horror movie to get in touch with it.

Absolutely. Here's a quote from them in the article:
“David and I are thrilled to step outside of our comedic collaborations and dive into a dark and vicious horror. Nobody will be laughing.”

And Exorcist director William Friedkin had previously made a few documentaries, a heist caper, and a police movie. It's like Paul Greengrass making a slasher movie after the Bourne Supremacy.

Every movie has some humor in it intentional or not. So we may see some in to give it a fun fill

This hasn't been updated in a while lol Jamie Lee Curtis is coming back and every sequel is being ignored and Carpenter is involved. I can't wait! Maybe I'll ask John Carpenter a little about the project when I meet him next month.
