What an amazing list. It helped me to see my original mistake. I forgot to add masterpieces like Bay of Blood, Torso and Dawn Of the Dead. Thanks for your reply dear
It was such a good decade that I feel sure we've both still probably forgotten a few more masterpieces. Perhaps the Blind Dead films and other obscure gems.
I am soon to watch Messiah of Evil for the first time after recently tracking it down. As it's on your list I'm now further looking forward to it.
Halloween came from the 70's - amazing era for this genre. Do you like 70s horrors? what are your biggest favourites?
Mine are these:
Halloween (of course)
Alien
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Black Christmas
Suspiria
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
The Hills Have Eyes
The Sentinel
Burnt Offerings
Jaws
Alice, Sweet Alice
Carrie
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
Messiah of Evil
The House of the Laughing Windows
Long Weekend
Raw Meat
Phantasm
Jungle Holocaust
Yes, Irina. The Exorcist is my all-time scariest film ever. I was raised a Catholic, although I don't practice Catholicism anymore. The film has a certain resonance with me. The director went balls to the wall in making the film, scaring people on his set by firing guns nearby them without warning. It is a MASTERPIECE.
You've got flicks on your list I haven't seen... that's good. I'll have to check some of them out!! Welcome to the boards.
I love so many of these movies listed so far, the 70's was truly a great decade for horror films. I thought of a few not listed yet: I Spit On Your Grave, Race With The Devil, The Legend Of Hell House, The House of Seven Corpses, The Devil's Rain

These aren’t really in any set order. I’m always watching new horror flicks and adding new ones to my favorites list.

Hey I loved "The Driller Killer" (1979). If I have no mistake, it was the first movie directed by Abel Ferrara. I love this director
