Tyrone Edmund Power Jr. (Cincinnati, Ohio, 5 de maig de 1914-Madrid, 15 de novembre de 1958), més conegut com Tyrone Power, va ser un actor nord-americà. És el pare de la cantant Romina Power. Es va convertir en estrella de cinema a finals dels anys trenta i principis dels anys quaranta. Va treballar per als estudis cinematogràfics Twentieth Century Fox com a resposta d'aquest estudi a Errol Flynn, l'estrella de la competidora Warner Brothers. Va participar en mig centenar de films d'època i es va destacar per encarnar eficaçment papers dramàtics i romàntics. His great-grandfather was the first Tyrone Power (1795-1841), a famed Irish comedian. His father, known to historians as Tyrone Power Sr., but to his contemporaries as either Tyrone Power or Tyrone Power the Younger, was a huge star in the theater (and later in films) in both classical and modern roles. His mother, Patia Riaume (Mrs. Tyrone Power), was also a Shakespearean actress as well as a respected dramatic coach.

Tyrone Edmund Power, Jr., (also called Tyrone Power III; May 5, 1914 - November 15, 1958) was born at his mother's home of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1914. A frail, sickly child, he was taken by his parents to the warmer climate of southern California. After his parents' divorce, he and his sister Anne Power returned to Cincinnati with their mother. There he attended school while developing an obsession with acting. Although raised by his mother, he corresponded with his father, who encouraged his acting dreams. He was a supernumerary in his father's stage production of 'The Merchant of Venice' in Chicago and held him as he died suddenly of a heart attack later that year.

Startlingly handsome, young Tyrone nevertheless struggled to find work in Hollywood. He appeared in a few small roles, then went east to do stage work. A screen test led to a contract at 20th Century Fox in 1936, and he quickly progressed to leading roles. Within a year or so, he was one of Fox's leading stars, playing in contemporary and period pieces with ease. Most of his roles were colorful without being deep, and his swordplay was more praised than his wordplay. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II as a transport pilot, and he saw action in the Pacific Theater of operations.

After the war, he got his best reviews for an atypical part as a downward-spiraling con-man in Nightmare Alley (1947). Although he remained a huge star, much of his postwar work was unremarkable. He continued to do notable stage work and also began producing films. Following a fine performance in Billy Wilder's Witness for the Prosecution (1957), Power began production on Solomon and Sheba (1959). Halfway through shooting, he collapsed during a dueling scene with George Sanders, and he died of a heart attack before reaching a hospital.

Tyrone Power descend d'une lignée d'hommes de théâtre comme son arrière-grand-père, l'acteur irlandais Tyrone Power. Il va suivre les pas de son père Tyrone Power Sr. en jouant dans des films américains dès l'âge de onze ans dans School for Wives en 1925, puis à l'âge de vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il joue dans le film Lloyd's of London, 1936. Il devient rapidement une idole, comme Rudolph Valentino avant lui, ses fans suivant ses activités hors cinéma, comme jouer au polo.

Tyrone Power meurt d'une attaque cardiaque à Madrid en Espagne, lors du tournage de Salomon et la Reine de Saba (Solomon and Sheba) en 1958, à l'âge de 44 ans (il est remplacé dans le film par Yul Brynner). Il est enterré au Hollywood Forever Cemetery, cimetière à Hollywood en Californie.

Tyrone Power épouse la comédienne française Annabella, née Suzanne Charpentier (1907-1996), le 23 avril 1939, dont il divorce le 26 janvier 1948. Il adopte Anne (1928-2011), la fille d'Annabella et d'Albert Dieudonné, le "Napoléon" d'Abel Gance. Le 27 janvier 1949, il se remarie avec la comédienne Linda Christian (1923-2011) à Rome dans la basilique Santa Francesca Romana, épouse dont il divorce le 7 août 1956. Ils ont deux filles, Romina Francesca Power, née en 1951, et Taryn Power (1953-2020). En troisièmes noces, il épouse Deborah Ann Montgomery Minardos (1931-2006), le 7 mai 1958. Leur fils, Tyrone William Power IV, naît en 1959 après la mort de son père. Tyrone Power a eu de nombreuses liaisons avec des actrices d'Hollywood, dont Judy Garland qui tomba enceinte de lui et fut obligée d'avorter sous la pression de ses producteurs, et Lana Turner.

Tyrone Edmund Power III. (* 5. Mai 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio; † 15. November 1958 in Madrid, Spanien) war ein US-amerikanischer Film- und Theaterschauspieler. Ende der 1930er-Jahre wurde er vor allem durch seine Hauptrollen in Abenteuerfilmen wie Im Zeichen des Zorro und Der Seeräuber zum Hollywood-Star. Die letzte Filmrolle vor seinem frühen Tod infolge eines Herzinfarktes hatte Power in Billy Wilders Gerichtsdrama Zeugin der Anklage.
