What are your favorite or recommended classic films ca 1990 or older that have some element of Sci-fi or adventure?
I'm always on the look out for these films. I've probably seen most of the common ones. I'm not looking for necessarily A grade films. I like B movies. I like "bad science". I like minimalism. I dont mind a rubber spider or two, a model rocket, you get the picture. I won't rule out viewing really bad movies either. some of those can be fun. In other words dont limit your suggestions out of fear of ridicule. There are sometimes great moments in other wise awkward films. Some are just pure entertainment regardless of their budget or scientific validity. by all means mention the greats. feel free to suggest film you may assume everybody already knows about. you never know.
This isn't meant to be a debate on a films validity- spur conflict about personal taste. I hope this to be an open suggestion box to root out more obscure films, rare films, hidden gems, etc. I'm really hoping this will be fun. If some one suggests a film, ask them about it, what they like, etc.
I'll throw out a couple of my favorites to start:
Crack in the World - Dana Andrews 1965
X:The Man with the X-Ray eyes - Ray Milland 1963
They Live - Roddy Piper 1988
When Worlds Collide - Richard Derr 1951
The Day Mars Invaded Earth - 1962
First Men in the Moon - Edward Judd 1964
I have many more

@NeoLosman : For some nutty reason Monica Bellucci was rather shy about taking her lingerie off in Spectre. And BTW, one of the reasons why I loved her character in The Brotherhood Of The Wolf was I got a kick out of an 18th Century Courtesan turning out to be a member of the Vatican Secret Service. 😉

I also wanted to recommend a 1950's so bad it's good sci-fi movie called Beginning Of The End to everyone. It's about the time Peter Graves, who was apparently an expert chemist before he joined the Impossible Missions Force, and how he, a female war photojournalist, the military and a bunch of Army Reserve Soldiers who picked the wrong two weeks to serve their annual on-duty obligation banded together to save the world from Giant Mutant Grasshoppers from Illinois who wanted to take over the planet. The Mystery Science Theater 3K version is on YouTube and is hilarious!

"MST3K" (in all its incarnations): God's gift to SyFy buffs everywhere!
As for: "Beginning Of The End" Checked it out just to have a look-see. Surprised that something so old would have so many recent views. Even though I only watch a smidge, it reminded me of "War of the Worlds" (2005), with Tom Cruise.

@NeoLosman : Have you ever seen the MST3K version of Pumaman? If you haven't, you must!

@NeoLosman : I can't remember if I mentioned the Japanese Kaiju monster movie Frankenstein Conquers The World to you yet, but it's a great movie.

Everyone should keep in mind that MST3K usually ran cut/edited versions of movies to fit in their time slot with ads and their studio bits. So if you watch MST3K to see a movie, you're probably not seeing the whole movie.

@NeoLosman : I saw Open Water way back when it was released in 2004. It was very good but depressing. It was made for a VERY cheap budget but made $55.5 million dollars at the box office.
