What are your favorite or recommended classic films ca 1990 or older that have some element of Sci-fi or adventure?
I'm always on the look out for these films. I've probably seen most of the common ones. I'm not looking for necessarily A grade films. I like B movies. I like "bad science". I like minimalism. I dont mind a rubber spider or two, a model rocket, you get the picture. I won't rule out viewing really bad movies either. some of those can be fun. In other words dont limit your suggestions out of fear of ridicule. There are sometimes great moments in other wise awkward films. Some are just pure entertainment regardless of their budget or scientific validity. by all means mention the greats. feel free to suggest film you may assume everybody already knows about. you never know.
This isn't meant to be a debate on a films validity- spur conflict about personal taste. I hope this to be an open suggestion box to root out more obscure films, rare films, hidden gems, etc. I'm really hoping this will be fun. If some one suggests a film, ask them about it, what they like, etc.
I'll throw out a couple of my favorites to start:
Crack in the World - Dana Andrews 1965
X:The Man with the X-Ray eyes - Ray Milland 1963
They Live - Roddy Piper 1988
When Worlds Collide - Richard Derr 1951
The Day Mars Invaded Earth - 1962
First Men in the Moon - Edward Judd 1964
I have many more

The ORIGINAL "The Day The Earth Stood Still". The remake with Keanu was an abomination.

"Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970)"
Excerpt from the “IMDb” description:
“Thinking this will prevent war, the US government gives an impenetrable supercomputer total control over launching nuclear missiles.”
Someone from the Board of the TV show, “Person of Interest” (2011-2016), recommended this movie. I'm such a fan of that show; so, I decided to check out this movie. Definitely has not worn well tech-wise. But, considering the world’s ongoing quest to perfect AI, the BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor message still resonates.

Red Planet was from 2000 and the remake Solaris is from 2002 ,the Tarkovski version from 1972,and since we are on the subject of Tarkovski Stalker can also be put on the list. And one wasn't adressing you specifically but in general that the movies should be from prior to 1990.The Blob starring Steve Mc Queen and the 1988 remake can also be put on that list together with The Last Starfighter,Starman,Soylent Green,The Omega Man,Logan's Run,The Handmaids Tale(the Schlondorff movie) is from 1990,Fantastic Voyage,Capricorn One,XTRO,The Green Slime,Planet Of The Apes,Beneath The Planet Of The Apes,Escape From The Planet Of The Apes,The Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes,The Battle For The Planet Of The Apes and Master Of The World featuring Vincent Price.

oops. I thought you were addressing Formerly
I saw "Colossus" back in the early 70's . I've been thinking about revisiting some of these movies and look at them with fresh eyes.

It's quite decent just think 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea but with an airship.Price plays a Nemo like character.

Five Million Years To Earth (aka Quatermass And The Pit, movie version)
Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun (entertaining, but doesn't make sense if you think about it)
There were two novel sequels to Colossus (The Fall Of Colossus, Colossus And The Crab) and one sequel to When Worlds Collide (After Worlds Collide) that were never made into movies but were quite enjoyable. The perhaps oddest thing about the end of the Worlds Collide movie is there are some obviously-constructed things they see on the new world, but nobody says anything about it.
After getting actual experience with computers in the 70s, I had a hard time taking Colossus seriously because they had all that break-down-able stuff inside a mountain that nobody could get at to repair.

cool I'll check it out.
As a kid I always wished they would do movies on the Edgar Rice Boroughs Mars series precisely because they had airships. I thought airships were the coolest concept.

@Knixon
I'll look for After Worlds Collide
I still have my early collection of Sci-Fi paperbacks. I can add it if it's still findable
