In light of the recent global pandemic, I'm declaring that a Vulcan hand salute is much safer than shaking someone's hand.

indeed!
The handshake as we know it, along with cheek-kissing and the fist-bump, probably will go the way of burning-at-the-stake. "Those who fail to learn from history...."

The French and Italians seem to need that lesson the most. Along with getting away from smoking, which seems connected to a lot of additional risk.
Now that I've moved to a new state, I got myself a new doctor. She heard my medical history and ordered me into self-quarantine immediately. She broke clinic regulations and gave me a mask and gloves.

Just wondering...
Has anyone returned to since the "recent global pandemic" has now been declared (for lack of a better word) contained?
I haven't…not ready yet. Also (other than TV/Movies/etc.), I haven't notice others shaking hands either. I think caution is still the main mood of the masses.
I was standing in line at a mall eatery this weekend. I suddenly realized I was running late, and whirl around to leave. I darn near knocked over the person standing behind me. I had been so intent on reading the menu that I hadn’t realized anyone was there.
When did people start standing that close again?
Even though most places seem to have removed the floor markers, I still keep a certain distance. Also, all things considered, you’d think that now-till-forever people would be a lot less willing to/likely to “clump together” the way they did before the pandemic.
Maybe it’s just those of us who were victims of the virus who are a tad more cautious.

Let me guess. You got it even though you were "distancing" and all that? So what makes you think "distancing" would STOP you from getting it NOW? Did "distancing" suddenly become effective when it apparently wasn't before?
Even if they were handing out $$$....I wouldn't "stack-up" like that. After all, you can't spend it if you're are .
I've always been a "doors open," "off-hours," "Sunday-shopper". If I'm in a large store and I hear the chit-chat-noise approaching a certain level, that's my cue to make my way out of there.
Anyone who's had it would be wise to avoid future boosters etc. Natural immunity is better anyway, and the possibility of reactions for someone who's already had it is much higher.
While the new variants are more contagious, they are also becoming less and less deadly.
I have been vaccinated and did catch a case of Covid. It was fairly mild.

I know someone who went "3-Rounds" with Covid. It was like he was a Covid-magnet. The second time around he shut down the whole school. Of course, this was during the heart of the epidemic.

The Vulcan hand salute, made famous by the Star Trek series, involves extending the hand with the palm forward and parting the fingers in a V-shaped gesture. This unique salute has become recognized as a symbol of unity, friendship, and understanding among Star Trek fans and beyond.

But yes, I am still alive.

Somehow, he was no worse for wear.
