Discuss Star Trek

Watching this episode again, it's clear that they didn't really have to rush things, including the test that blinds Mr Spock. But they did anyway, Because Plot/Because Drama.

2270: Afterparty, Captain Kirk promotion to Admiral

Spock: "It's been a pleasure serving with you Admiral. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to serve with not only you, but also with your brother."

Kirk: "What? You never told me you served with my brother. Where...?"

Spock: "On the Enterprise, sir, with Captain Pike."

Kirk: "This is the frst time I'm hearing about this."

Spock: "Uhura can attest to it."

Kirk: "Wait, what? Uhura was there too?"

Uhura: "Yes, sir, I was on the Enterprise back then."

Kirk: "You with Sam? How..."

Nurse Chapel: "I was there too!"

Kirk: "You guys are pulling my leg. Spock, are you exaggerating again..."

Spock: "No Admiral, just like my sister once told me..."

Kirk: "There you go again with your mystery sister that you never talk about, because it's classified."

McCoy: "Jim, don't you remember you were there too."

Spock: "And in another timeline you saved us all, the Enterprise, Chris, everyone."

Kirk: "What? How..."

to be continued... smiley

............ George's dead body appeared on Deneva, we have no idea what he did before he and his family moved to the Deneva Colony when he took the Life Sciences job there. So it is theoretically possible that George could have been in Starfleet and served on the Enterprise under Captain Pike. That's just how the cookie bounces.

Today, I watched Operation Annihilate! Bones and Kirk find George dead and Kirk is trying to keep it together when Spock enters the room from beyond and literally passes the corpse without even looking at it. I don't know how much screen time George has on Strange New Worlds but I read that he is under Spock's command. They worked together ,so Spock ignoring George's body is just weird.

What I hate about the writers of Strange New World is that they are milking , exploiting TOS material constantly and they are ruining many great TOS episodes in the process.

It's pretty much a prereq in contemporary Hollywood.... Anyone who wants to get their project funded has to first swear a blood oath to

A). Not come up with an original idea, but to instead rehash a stale franchise

and

B). Maul whatever franchise they're rehashing beyond all recognition

The days where Tinseltown was producing shows like Babylon 5 and even the 2000s re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica now seem like not simply a different decade from the one in which we've lived today, but an entirely different world

It will be interesting to see what they'll do with the "Babylon 5" reboot.

I wouldn't be surprised if the various network executives won't accept a "tradittional" "reboot," they'll want to have Marcus in love with Garibaldi instead of Susan, etc. Hopefully, JMS will have the courage to refuse. They already caught lightning in a bottle once, and that's enough. Oddly enough, it's the same reason I don't hope for a "reboot" of The Starlost. At least not until people have come to their senses again.

@Knixon : Personal Diety, they're going to do a Babylon 5 reboot? I did not know that! I loved that show! Michael O'Hare, Rest In Peace, did an awesome job as Commander Jeffrey Sinclair in season one, especially as we now know that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia during season 1 (I used to like Jerry Doyle as Garibaldi until I heard about all the nasty things he said about Michael O'Hare after Mr. O'Hare left the show).
