I just read about Kirstie Alley's passing. I thought she was very attractive and I loved her character, may she rest in peace. Here is a clip from the 1.08 mark.

So many of the articles talk about her role on Cheers and Look Who's Talking.
I'm happy that this board recognizes her for her real achievement.
She got her big break in probably the best Star Trek movie "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)".
Paramount Network Television is also one of the companies that produced the television series "Cheers (1982-1993)", where her role as Rebecca Howe made her popular among the general public.
Of course, Star Trek fans will always remember Kirstie Alley as Saavik. R.I.P.
More than enough, but I told the supermarket manager that he should make her leave because she might try to convert everyone in the store to Scientology.
Kirstie Louise Alley (January 12, 1951 - December 5, 2022; 71 years old) R.I.P..
I remember her most from "Fat Actress" (2005). The show only lasted a couple seasons; but, I found it hilarious. (Also remember that Mayim Bialik..."The Big Bang Theory"...had a recurring role on the show.)
I can't claim to have been a giant fan; but, she was a Star Trek and that good enough for me. Plus, I think doing Fat Actress (especially during that time) was gutsy.
I read somewhere that Ms. Alley said that William Shatner spent the ENTIRE filming of Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan trying to get her to have sex with him. She didn't, and she was so disgusted by him that when the producers of STIII were negotiating her contract for her to continue her role as Lt. Saavik, Ms. Alley told her agent to ask for a ridiculously high amount of money for her role. The producers said no and hired another actress (which was exactly what Ms. Alley wanted).
Legend has it that Teri Garr, who played Roberta Lincoln in the Star Trek TOS second season finale Assignment Earth refused to talk about filming that episode (allegedly because William "can't keep his hands to himself" Shatner was pestering her as well). As a matter of fact, to this day Teri Garr refuses to say anything about the filming of that episode.
@NeoLosman: I have a feeling that William Shatner probably would have struck out with Kim Cattrall as well. I loved the time she responded to a tweet Sara Jessica Parker sent a few years ago that included Parker calling Cattrall "my friend." Ms. Catrall's blunt reply to Ms. Parker: "I am not your friend."
She did do a great job. As I think I've mentioned before, the real reason that Kristie didn't get cast in Star Trek III was that Kristie said William Shatner was pestering her so much on the set of Star Trek II that she told her agent to ask for an outrageous amount of money to appear in Star Trek III so they wouldn't hire her.

Just happened to catch some of “…The Wrath of Khan” this a.m.:
(1) While I’m used to seeing scenes with the other cast members who are no longer with us, must admit seeing that scene with Alley and Nichols on the Bridge…and realizing that they are so recently gone…was cause for a pause.
(2) Last time I saw the movie, I was all-about-the-action. Have to re-watch it in its entirety. Now, I think I’m old enough to “chow down” on the message and “digest” some lessons learned.
(3) Didn’t realize that this movie earned such impressive ratings…critics & the Trekkers/Trekkies who actually paid to see the it.

Ciao @sunshine62. I hope all is well with you, too.
Yes, the passing of Kirstie Alley was very sudden for those who didn't know that she had cancer.

I still liked her best in "Summer School" with Mark "NCIS" Harmon.

How about that movie where Tom Selleck is chasing down sentient robots? Gene Simmons was the bad guy. Kirstie Alley was Gene's girlfriend.

"Runaway." Yes, that's another good one. But I don't think she was in it as much as "Summer School."
They weren't sentient robots, just programmed to do bad things by Gene's character. There were also the heat-seeking "smart missile" bullets.

About 5 years ago when Kirstie Alley had her own reality tv series, she filmed the supermarket scenes at a supermarket near my house.
