Discuss Kolchak: The Night Stalker

You know, the one on THAT website, whose name eludes me at the moment. Now it's just us here. Now we're all alone. May God have mercy on our souls... disappointed

Hope the others make it.

I was spending the day watching eps of Sages past and trying to read the discussion threads 'fore they vanished down the Time Tunnel. Looks like the Caprica and Wonderfalls discussions are intact over at MovieChat.org..

Ha! That was unexpected. In one of the last posts of the Wonderfalls board you can see my first participation in the group that one day would be known as the Sages, seven years ago...

I posted something on the Kolchak board on the moviechat.org. But that site has a very minimalist design. It has no formatting tools, you can't edit your posts and you can't add a picture to your profile. Basically, you can only write plain text. Oh, and it doesn't even have a search button; you have to tap "Enter" on your keyboard.

They said they would give us time to "prepare." They said they would give us to the 20th. But they never said what time zone.

Not too thrilled by MovieChat yet myself for those same reasons. Looking at the main BB it's also got a major troll spamming it already, and plenty of posters taking the bait.

I thought they were going to just lock the boards to new discussion but as far as I can see they are gone. The only link I found under community just brings you to the message. It sucks all that history of posts is gone.

Australian time?

I figured it was the 20th somewhere. It was already night here, so I'm assuming GMT. Which, by the way, would be the correct choice.

I just noticed each post has a time stamp, though I don't know from shich time zone. Let's see... It's 12:40 here.

@mad-pac You are famous
It's about half way down.

Ha! That was really unexpected! I'd better check the imdb2.0 forum every now and then, I guess. Oh, for a moment I thought they would make acomment of the epic saga of the Sages, but alas that was not true. Still, that shows you must be careful with what you post. imagine you say something silly and controversial, some blog publishes it and you become famous for the wrong reasons...

I've been reading quite a few articles, like that one, about the demise of the imdb boards. The general opinion is that they were full of racists and the boards had to go. I read that a lot in forums whose general opinion is that white people in general are prejudiced. Go figure.

Personally I always managed to filter the vitriol and find the threads with opinions that managed to clarify aspects of the movie or show. And you could also find controversial, politically incorrect views on which you didn't have to agree, but raised interesting points. Besides, closing a communication vehicle doesn't solve the problem, just hides the symptoms.

Funny thing. I have to have my prescription glasses changed. So, some details look like a blur to me. For instance, I look at your avatar and think it's a black rooster.

Ha, it's not the clearest, I've used it for years. Its a guy in a black suit with his shadow behind him. Its from a game.

By the way, I just found out all our discussions on The Prisoner (1967) have been preserved at moviechat.org. Not that it really matters.

I'm here, just noticed that the "site whose name shall not be mentioned" did not give it's boards a reprieve. Of all the boards mentioned as possible options, no one at that other place mentioned "moviechat.org"

Everyone I've found so far seems to have scattered to the 7 winds, don't know how search engines work, but I suspect anyone wanting to find these discussions likely will.

Tchau for now.

All is not lost, fellow Sages, especially for me. I went back to our old discussions and copied them down. I didn't know how to save them in the same format, but I highlighted them and copied them to Word documents. The emojis are lost and the spoilers are all visible (which is preferable to them being forever blacked out), but the thoughts are intact. I hoped sometime to catch up on some of the shows you did before I joined and watch them, reading your reviews afterward. I did that with DAY BREAK months ago and it was almost as much fun as participating in real time. I had copies the shows we did since I joined first and was getting the last of the earlier ones on Sunday. I had no idea how close I was cutting it. In GOD, THE DEVIL AND BOB, I tried to go to page 2 of the boards but all the pages after 1 were empty. I used that recent postings board to get in and found page 2 in time to save the reviews. I had similar problems with DARK SKIES, but got them all too. Minutes after I had gotten the last of them, I remembered a personal discussion from a movie I wanted to save. I found it on my phone, but when I went to my computer to save it, the boards were all gone completely. Happy ending on that one, though. I just typed it out from my phone where it still was archived temporarily.
