Discuss Kolchak: The Night Stalker

Here they are, in alphabetical order:

Let's set the deadline for Friday, so Friday evening I announce the official results. But if everyone agrees and have already voted, we can do that earlier.

Choose 5 in order of preference. Make an effort to find 5 you like, please. Michael Levenson had suggested not allowing vote changes, but I think then everyone would want to vote last and cast the decisive vote, so I think voters should be allowed to change their votes if they don't like who's winning. Sometimes our rejection of a show is stronger than the love for another one.

Make your votes in blue color and write nothing else in blue, so I can differentiate the votes from all the random chatter that comes with them. This is how I make blue: [span style="color:blue"]some blue text[/span], except with "< >" instead of "[ ]". Well, I guess that's it... Good luck. May the least boring win.

Greetings @mad-pac, greetings sages, Olá, Bonjour, Guten Tag, G'Day and 你好 (blame google translate if that is wrong). Ok so I've been on nights and now can't sleep so it's a good time to get my voting in.
First random chatter grinning
A really good selection of shows, whatever wins I will be happy to watch them, a nice mix of long and short too.
So here are the results from the Cloister56 jury:

Harper's Island 5 points
Harper's Island cinq points

Defying Gravity 4 points
Defying Gravity quatre points

Twin Peaks 3 points
Twin Peaks trois points

Omega Factor 2 points
Omega Factor deux points

Camelot 1 point
Camelot un point

So concludes the votes from the Cloister56 jury.

So many good choices... Let's see.

  1. Twin Peaks
  2. Alien Nation
  3. Welcome to Paradox
  4. Invasion
  5. Dead Like Me
  1. Dead Like Me Because I do so look forward to eventually discussing that show with this group some time.
  2. Alien Nation Because I remember enjoying the show when it aired on TV.
  3. Camelot Because I enjoy Michael Hirst's current series Vikings and would like to see more of his way with bloody medieval action drama.
  4. Welcome to Paradox Sounds interesting.
  5. Defying Gravity Just because.

Well, we already did Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls (perhaps you caught those), so Dead Like Me and Hannibal are the Bryan Fuller shows that remain (plus American Gods, but that one hasn't been cancelled and is still airing).

2 . Alien Nation Because I remember enjoying the show when it aired on TV.

And don't forget there's also the James Caan + Mandy Patinkin movie.

The race so far...

SHOWS GOLD SILVER BRONZE COPPER TIN VOTES POINTS
Twin Peaks 1 1 2 8
Alien Nation 2 2 8
Dead Like Me 1 1 2 6
Harpers Island 1 1 5
Defying Gravity 1 1 2 5
Welcome to Paradox 1 1 2 5
Camelot 1 1 2 4
The Omega Factor 1 1 2
Invasion 1 1 2
Ascension
Awake
FlashForward

Thinking about it unless someone else who didn't nominate comes to vote and unless Brimfin doesnt vote for his own picks, I think we are heading to Alien Nation.

My votes:

1. Welcome to Paradox

2. Twin Peaks

3. Dead Like Me

4. Alien Nation

5. Flashforward

Ok so maybe Twin Peaks instead, this is exciting

Decisions, decisions... At this point we can either leave things like that or we can rethink our own votes. Since everybody's votes seem to be involved in the winning positions, we all are responsible for the current configuration. However, you might feel more strongly about show A instead of B and C, so you can still think it over. The best thing is to let everyone (or most of us at least) be confident about our choice. But if there are no changes in the next one or two days, we might as well announce the winner.

Personally, I've been looking for an excuse to watch Twin Peaks for a long time, and in fact have postponed watching it in the hopes we'd do that in the group. Alien Nation is a very good surprise, something I had forgotten about, but I loved the show and the first movie. Welcome to Paradox is a true gem with very smart stories, but what remains to be seen is how well it has aged since late 1990s. It's thought-provoking enough to motivate interesting discussions. Dead Like Me is a show we'll have to see sooner or later in other to complete the Bryan Fuller trifecta, though ironically I'll be the only one to have seen all three shows, so we might even have to go back and watch the other two again... (And now there's Hannibal to be added to the mix too...)

The others, even if they seem to be interesting, are not a factor yet, so I won't focus on those. I'm just curious why Ascension hasn't ascended, and Awake is still asleep. But at least FlashForward moved an inch (or maybe should I say 2.54 cm) forward.

But too many good choices is always better than lots of bad ones, or having to pick the lesser of two lemons (though we refer to those as "pineapples").

Let's meditate, Sages... Ohmmm... 💆😵

Heh took me a while to get that picture joy
I'm happy with my votes, I'm interested to watch all of these shows so whichever one wins is fine by me.
I have struggled so far to locate a copy of Welcome to Paradox if that was to make a late push but I think it was mentioned ways may be found.

Good. It can be a problem when someone in the group has very particular tastes and then it's impossible to please everybody. But fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

You simply won't find Paradox. It was only released as a DVD in Australia in the early 2000s. Officially, it's nowhere else, apparently. But then I would upload the episodes to my google drive and send you the link.

My two last posts (including an updated table) and cloister56's reply seems to have vanished. The entry shows the number 12 as number of replies, but I count only 9. Something fishy is going on.

Well, it looks like the dog ate my homework, so I''m posting this AGAIN!

I had written a much longer post earlier, but here's the Cliffs Notes version. Now, folks you can still change your votes if you prefer this or that show. Or leave it like that. I have reasons to like any of the shows, particularly those on the top of the list. We can have a couple more days to muse on that.

Let's meditate now, Sages... Ohmmm! 💆😵
