Discuss Dr. Death

The show starts a bit slow and doesn't get a lot of speed even later. But the characters become sharper, the plot thickens and the stakes become higher. This is a story how medical negligence can be so banal and happen so naturally without any warning signs, and it is truly disturbing. This show is a real life lesson for anyone that seeks medical help and it's emphasizing the importance of government and supervising bodies to stop incompetence and straight out negligence that jeopardize people's lives. The monstrosity of a medical system that values economic gain over anything else and the indifference of the government bureaucracy that allows abuse of the rules is just stunning after watching this.

But besides very disturbing look into real life consequences of medical incompetence that should make people more alert when they are visiting their doctors, that after all are just people as well, this show is very watchable on the dramatic scale as well. There is a great cast that does very nice job. There is a nice editing that slowly reveals the story and dives deep into the the mind and thinking of a functional narcissistic sociopath. I would not consider Joshua Jackson as great actor, he is usually just an average and mostly unremarkable actor. But he does succeed here to depict a very flawed individual, mostly because the writing was very good. Christian Slater as usual shines in everything he does, here as well. And kudos to Dominic Burgess for doing fantastic job in a role of unfortunate friend.

The show is slow and steady, the plot is constantly jumping between the present and various moments in the past so it is not always easy to follow. The show is also not some complicated artistic achievement, it is just real life drama. But the storytelling is flawless, great writing and acting, and it all results in a very impactful message. Nicely done.
