On the way to Copenhagen, two young people have their engine stop. Two kind farmers lend them a summer cottage to spend the night in. But they will soon regret it. That night, strange things happen. Headless men and laughing skeletons appear. Paintings fall from the walls. And what kind of shadowy figure is that digging outside the cabin in the middle of the night? After this gas-hugging night, the couple continues their journey towards Copenhagen relieved. But the horrors are not over yet. The cabin turns out to hide yet another terrible secret.

For more than 50 years, Hermann Völxen and his sister Hildegard have owned a farm with many cows. The documentary shows the sometimes troublesome day-to-day life of the farmer.

Set in Isaan, this is the story of a mother who struggles to lead her needy family through seemingly endless hardships and pressures. To help the family survive, the father endures greedy capitalists who heartlessly take advantage of him and his family, forcing him to slave at the harvest of an infertile field. That is until he loses both his arms. Then all the burdens fall on the mother: bread-winning, taking care of her crippled husband and raising the kids, all amid external pressures from drought to vile businessmen.

During the Cultural Revolution in China in the late 20th century, ethnic Manchu people were persecuted and forced to give up such cultural traditions as the shaman dance (tiao tchin, meaning "spirit-jumping" or "god's dance"). However, on Changbai Mountain in Northeast China, a farmer named Guan Yunde decided to start designing and building traditional Manchu shaman drums. At age 70, he is one of a minority of ethnic Manchu people in China's Jilin province, and one of the few people keeping the Manchu shamanic tradition alive.
