This movie's night-filmed streets, as well as sewer, cinematography is outstanding, and strikingly beautiful. (Seems odd calling sewer scenes beautiful!) The stunning images on the screen are exquisitely lit, crisply textured, and supremely artfully shot.

Not at all hard to see why The Third Man won the Best B&W Cinematography Academy Award. It certainly was well deserved.
